Suction or Gravity feed?
If its too thick it can add some more thinners, about 60% thinners to 40% paint is a good combo.
Just remember, thinners is cheaper than paint.
Start with a 50/50 and thin it down till you find a happy medium.
1 part paint to 1-1.5 parts thinners
so roughly 50-50 to 60-40

depends wat type of paint it is....
if its metalic then 50 - 50 and then ur clear is 2:1, with ur clear, hardener and thinners.
if its solid colour then its 2:1 with ur paint, hardener and thinners (no clear over the top)
altho it would help if u had a messuring stick like we use at the panel shop
Iv'e got a m8 that knows his ****! he's the best painter you could ever meet!
He does stuff for street machine and show cars! and what he told me was....
The more thinners... the more mirror finish! but in saying that the more thinners the quicker it dries..
Now this fella can give you a paint job thats like looking into glass!
cheers!
i reckon ill go round 60-40ish thx guys..wish me luck this is my first attemp of spraying :P hehe

What kind of paint are you using? What thinners? What type of curing agent? All these are things to consider when applying paint. For example a two pack paint may use a 2:1 or 4:1 hardener which comes in different grades from fast to slow. Thinners can be used at as little as 10 percent or none at all if a hot pot is being used. Also you have various speed drying thinners.
I found the easiest way to learn is to use as little thinners as possible while getting a good spray pattern. As your skill progresses you can start using more thinners or a slower drying thinners to give the paint more time to flow & give a better overall appearance. Getting the gloss in the paint is more in the technique than the thinner paint. Dont apply enough & it will be a dry spotty mess. Apply too much & it will run.
Paint in good light & keep an eye on where you have sprayed to see if you are going too fast or slow. It is also easier to see any spots the spray pattern has missed. Also keep an eye on the paint at the edge of the spraypattern. If this is not flowing into the paint it means that there is a problem with your mixture or speed rating of the hardener/thinners.
i find clear coat is a paint in the ass when its in concentrate, i have to use like 30 clear / 70 thinners but yeah 50-50 for paint is good
If spraying mettelic the last coat should be thinned more than the first coats to get the proper mettelic look.
also does any one know how to spray the front clear plastic grill as well as i have seen a vp with it done b4 lookd pretty nice but was chipping away and peeling (dodgy job) does any one know how to do this properly as im half way through doin my bonnet and boot already so would like to do the grill while im at it :P thx

ya gotta watch if you use too much thinners. you can loose paint in the air..
is the paint 2pac or acrylic. i usually use 50/50 or a little more paint. like someone else said. as long as it sprays though the gun alright..
and fair chance your mate would be using 2pac. and that is different to use that acrylic
