    Exclamation Removing Heater Box/HVAC Box

Ok, how do I get the Heater/HVAC box out? I have removed the entire dash and have access to it.

I have removed 5 bolts so far, but cant get it out any further. The left side is moving and seems to be free after removing 3-4 bolts, and have removed 2 bolts from right hand side but is still stuck.

So does anyone know how many bolts there are?

Also, how do I disconnect the pipes that go through the firewall? Where do they disconnect and how do I go about it? It looks like I have to disconnect them from the engine bay?

Any help ASAP would be great as I am doing this tomorrow afternoon after I paint my dash.

hard to get to seems to be the phrase of the day. One of the nuts on the heater box, top right hand side rear of the box...was a total prick to get at.... It was hidden behind sound deadener stuff... And was a total whore

So far i've had 3 issues... 1 is removing heater box...
Second was removing steering wheel... had to go buy a steering wheel puller...
3 was I pulled a wire out thats connected to my tacho when removing the dash and cant see where it went... So gotta try and figure that out otherwise my tacho wont work. Think its the signal wire... pretty sure it went to a brown/white wire behind the instrument cluster.

p.s. I found a heap of leaves in the heater box fan thing...

The back of the cluster should say what number plug and and location the tacho signal wire goes in.

Need a quick reply... Im not draining the coolant system... Will this cause any problems or issues?

Also a quick guide to the bolts under the bonnet, other than the ones where the heater pipes are... what other bolts are in the engine bay?

Look at the heater box to go in its the same shape. The bolts (2) are at the top of the tranny tunnel and 1 behind the a/c dryer - long thread sticking out....

Make sure you fit the drain pipe from the bottom of the HVAC box back in right or you will get some strange smells from soggey carpet in your car

I presume you have removed the bolt that attaches the air con piping into the heater box under the windscreen. There are only 2 bolts in the engine bay into the heater box & you have to remove the fan resistor as well for it to clear the firewall when you try to pull it out.

If you just wanted to access the heater box to find and remove any leaves, rather than completely removing the heater box, how much of the instrument panel etc. would you have to remove to get access?
