    Default t5 balance weight

    just a quick question, on the t5 5sp there is a round balance weight on the rear of the box. jost wondering what the purpose of this is. iv been running mine for about 5 months without one and not sure if its necessary to put it back on??

    This is to counter balance the vibration from the drive shaft. Without it, the rear of the trans can move around a bit transferring a vibration into the car.

    hmmm. i should see if mine still has it or not.. i have a feeling my new box didn't have ones so i didn't put on one.. don't get any vibration though. so it may be there

    Early autos had it too but later models using same type auto didnt
