    Default couple questions

    1. I have a 92 model vp executive and was jst wondering ive herd tht removing the bellmouth gives it a bit more go, is this true and ive herd tht some vp's have the bellmouth already removed, would mine still have it or not?

2.And my roof lineing has all of a sudden decided to start hanging, after recently my m8' been sayin how good condition it is in, glrr now its begging to fall on the driver/passenger side front, how do i go about making it all tightened again, or even changing the colour, id like to make it either black or white.

the bellmouth is a resticion in the intake and is only there to smooth idle and distribute the air evenly to all cyclinders. I did notice a bit of differance in the good way after taking it out.
and i think the is a thread in the how to section about fixing roof lining.

Is a DIY on how to remove the bellmouth, its an easy job if your car is a Series 1 or 2.. If its a mix series like mine youll notice a thermostat gets in your way of the job..

And the roof lining can be fixed yourself, or most upholsterers will do the job for 100bux

Pull the TB off again and make sure the butterfly is closed... if its jammed open it will rev at "full throttle"

The throttle body works similar to a keg tap. Inside the valve, there is a round piece of meltal(TB, plastic for keg) that spins on an axsis. In the closed position, the round piece of material will be blocking the path of valve... imagine a 20c piece against garden hose with a skwewer stuck directly down the center of the coin face. If you placed the coin ontop of the hose (flat, covering it) air willhave difficutly in flowing out of it, rotate the skwewer so the coin starts turning and you notice that more air can flow as the coin turns. Imagine now that there is a string attached to the skwewer so when it is pulled, the same hting occurs... this is your throttle cable.....

The coins job in the TB is to regulate air flow... more open, more air.... it is known as a butterfly valve system.

You want to insure that the valve is not stuck! If it is, maximum air flow will be passed into engine = high revving.

    Hope that helped.

    aZk.

ok the butterfly is the roundish bit inside of the throttle body that rotates when the throttle is opened to let the air in. these motors sound very loud even at 3000rpm. Try pulling the intake tube off and seeing how the butterfly is sitting, open, closed, half open? even better if u can take a pic if u cant work it out. if it is fully closed with out the go pedal pushed down that is good? if it is all god there try disconnecting your battery for a couple of mins then reconect it start the car, see what happens? is still reving high? are all the bolts tight and gaskests in good nick so there is no air leaks? your throttle cable should be as tight as it can go without moving the butterfly..
have a go at that and tell us how u go..

it might have lots of gasket goo on the gaskets or no gasket and heaps of gasket goo, how hard did u try. give it a wriggle while pulling. lol
there r three bolts/studs, one on each side and one on the bottom to the drivers side of centre. if all these r undone then it should just pull off.
