Default vp fuel economy/vs fuel economy

hello do you know what i can do to increase the fuel economy in my 1992 vp as the vps use 12.5 ltrs per 100 kms and the vs uses 11.5 ltrs per 100 kms

my vp is using a lot of fuel and i was wondering how i can increase the fuel economy to 11.5 ltrs per 100 kms instead of 12.5 ltrs per 100 kms do i have to put a vs gearbox with wiring vs ecu and vs transmission computer, vs engine and transmission with ecu and wiring, changing diff ratio, what else would you sugest.

would a cold air intake change the fuel economy to 11.5 l/100km instead of 12.5 l/100km.

    i got a v6 not a v8

i look foward to your reply

The VS gets its better fuel economy from the engine, it runs the Ecotech.
Personally I would just make sure its well serviced, the Commodore is never going to get great fuel exonomy.
Mine works out at around 20-25L/100km normally

I'd suggest go buy a VS, it'll be cheaper at the end of the day. The amount of money your going to spend on this conversion, better keep the buick and let it use 1ltr more fuel per 100k.

what about a vr engine and transmission in a vp what do you have to change for this upgrade, vr gearbox in a vp engine what do you have to do for that conversion.

how much is a vr engine, vr gearbox, vs engine and vs gearbox to buy

how much is it all up to put a vs engine and gearbox in a vp body, putting a vr engine and gearbox in a vp body and connecting a vr gearbox to a vp engine

could you please list the prices for all the conversion options seperately

The VR engine will go straight into the VP.

The engine prices and trans depend on the condition, virtually for both the buick and the ecotech.

I'm not really sure about the conversion costs. The VS ecotech in a VP will cost abit, I'm certain on that.

    Something is wrong there.

My V8 is usually under 10L/100. 9.7 is the average.

Obviously every now and then i drive like Airstrike, and mine is also up around the 20 mark (highest i could manage was 40L/100)

how hard is putting a vr gearbox in to a vp engine and putting a vr engine and gearbox in to a vp

Are those V8 averages around town? If so thats damn good! I only get 12.9-13.6 city driving and on the freeway I get around 9 to 9.5

Just go get a CAI, a Exhaust, n a high flow filter, that will bring ur ecconomy down n give u a a lil bit more power n better throttle responce.

My Vp used to use 13-13.5l/100

With 2 1/2 zorst CAI n High flow filter she sits on bout 11.2/100km

So you want to try and spend all this money to improve your fuel economy... so that you can save an entire $1.10 for every 100km's you travel. Woah. That really makes sense. Fuel economy is so overrated its not funny so get over it and move on. If you want fuel economy, buy a 4 cylinder.

Whatever the amount of km's are on the new dash is what it will show in your car. Level 3 dashes go for around $80-$100 in good condition. Plus you will need the 4th plug and trip computer switch block (Left Hand Side)

Heres a thread to help you install it all Converting to a VN Calais dash

if you do the calais dash conversion is it ok for it to be 2000-15000kms out and not keep the original kms with that how do you go about selling your car later do you tell them or not or do you have to transfer the original kms onto the new dash(digital)

Well I would most definitely tell the people, but as for getting the original km's onto new dash I think its like $80 to have done so I am not gonna bother myself, but if you want you can. Legally you should swap the oiginal km's onto your new dash I guess, especially if selling it or its misrepresentation.

so do you just say that you had a calais dash put in and the millege counter stopped then you had it fixed who would get into trouble if someone found out the person who put the dash in or the owner of the car even though the owner didnt put it in and do you have to take it to adelaide or can someone local in moonta or holden in kadina do it instead which is about 1 1/2 hrs west of adelaide

and also if you get a vp calais dash loom and strip the 4th plug wires and splice it into the existing exec or belina loom can you still plug the standard dash back in without changing wires again

Any Holden dealer should be able to do it I think.

The person who owns the car at the time of swap is responsible for it. Just tell the truth, that the cluster was upgraded.

    1. the cost of ur conversion will outweigh the saving on fuel economy for a good 5-10 yrs if not more

    2. if u dont need the dash conversion why do it, if its just for the sake of checking fuel usage? can be done at the bowser with a simple calculation..

    3. I'd be checking, fuel filter, clean injectors, clean throttlebody, check that your tyres are properly inflated, change ur sparkplugs n leads.. give it a service, see if u can try giving your car a lil spruse up, it just might love you back with better fuel economy..

    just some things to ponder

so what happens if you sell your car and the new dash is 2000-15000kms out what happens then do you let the people know or what else do you do

    its about morals

how would u like it if u bought a car with 120,000kms on the clock, only to find out its got 350,000kms n the engines bout had it? u'd be pissed!

i meant if you dont transfer the millege do you have to let people know its not accurate because the counter broke and you got it fixed or do you write the old dash and the new dash in the book and let the buyer know because im about 1 1/2hrs from adelaide and it might not be easy to take it to a calibration place because there may not be a calibration place in kadina. i dont know if holden in kadina will calibrate the millege counter or not

With that small amount, personally i wouldn't worry about it.

Just when you sell it tell the buyer what happened, and that the k's are about 10,000 out

If it was around 100,000 out, i'd look at getting it changed, but it wouldn't really seem worth it for a few thousand
