    Default Installing Cruise Control...

    Ok a few questions here.

At the moment I have the following parts... Cruise Control Switch Block, Module and cable with bracket. Im hoping all I need now is two switches for the brake pedal?

Now I have a Series 2 1991 model Berlina which came factory with electric windows, aerial, power mirrors. Would the wiring be there for cruise control? Apparently the plugs for switch blocks and module etc. are already there, however I have yet to look.

Does anyone have any pics of where the module is located and where the cable runs near the throttle body? Also, anyone got a pic of the plug to the cruise module?

I already have a wiring diagram for it, just wondering if I have to wire it all myself or if some of it should already be there?

Wiring diagram that I found on this site:

you only got to take the instrument pannel which isnt hard and connect the wire for the speed sensor and the cruise control lights and put the dash back in after checking it first and do the brake switches and the cruise control switches and run the wires out to the engine bay and connect them to the module not sure how long it will take let me know how you go

I don't have any pics, but i can get some later tonight, and maybe upload them tomorrow (my comp at home is ****ed)

The module sits under the Airbox (on its side along the inside of the strut tower) and the cable runs along there, then bends up and goes behind and then around the Aircon setup to the Accelerator cable.

This is on a VP with cruise, so i assume the VN is the same as the V8 models are the same.

Lucky he had pics, cause i forgot the cord to plug the camera into the computer, and this dodgy work comp doesn't have a thing for an SD card, only a USB

Pics are the same as my VP anyway.

I was about to start this exact same thread.......

Anyway, brake switches? How do you fit them? And what sort of switch would be required? I was sorta thinking since the cruise loom is already in there and as the brake already has a coupla switchs on it for lights etc that it would already be set up...just a matter of hooking in switchbank and module...

am i way off base with that?

If you have 2 switches on the brake then one is most likely the cruise switch. The Cruise loom has a grey 2 pronge connector to plug onto one of them.

Hehe, I haven't checked yet . Was just thinking as everything else is pretty much plug and play....

Ok, say the switch isn't there where would you find another? Assuming there are none at the local wreckers and that I can't get to the nearest decent sized city to check there (seriously man, living in FNQ is lame, I'm 80km out of Cairns and work keeps me away 95% of the time that the wreckers there are open...)

If the loom is not in place you will need to buy a retro fit cruise control loom. Holden dealers should carry it.
The switch - Go to the Ebay online shops, easy as.

Speaking of this, I cant for the life of me find the plug for the cruise module yet it appears the wiring is all there at the switch block...

Also, theres no holes to screw the module in which means I have to drill

In the VN where does the cable hook onto? In that pic there appears to be a bracket? It can't mount on anywhere else right?

Im about to do this aswell but because my loom doesn't have the cruise module wires im going to fit an entire VP Main Wiring Harness to make it look factory fitted.
I have run this past the Doc and am waiting for a reply as to how it will work.
If he agrees it is the way to go, i will post up the way i did it for you to see.
Just not sure when i will find the time to do it.

I seem to have a green wire coming off the cruise loom that ends in a little elbow sort of black plug thing. Where is it supposed to plug in? Its only about 50cm long and I cant find anything that looks right...

Could be the connector for the anti theft swith/bonnet open warning switch. Cant recall if the VN's had such a thing.

Its mounted by the bonnet catch and there is a rubber stopper the closes the switch when the bonnet is closed properly.

Hmmm, well, I have a VN S1... and the green doodad is part of the factory loom that came without cruise... and I do not have that open bonnet warning switch.... I do however have a nice little hole where it should be...

Haha and I also had the 4th plug for the lvl 3 dash... gosh... its appearing that my car has the Calais loom in it... is it supposed to? (perhaps that is a question for another thread...)

Some one could have put the 4th plug in. But if you have the cruise plug by the LH headlight then yes you probably have the Calis loom in your car. Have you looked for the 2 brake switches?

Does your car have the trip computer switch blocks/electric arial?

It came with an electric aerial but not with the trip switch block, I had to pick one of them up from the wreckers, same with cruise switch block.

-sigh- Guess I need to go hunting for a brake switch. Ummm, that switch has two connector doodads on it? What else can hook up to it aside from the cruise?
