    Thumbs up The '500 Club'

    The 500 Club
    G'Day guys,
I was just reading all the posts about the poor fuel consumption, and I just got 500kms from my tank so I was very happy about this, as you would.
I was wondering if anyone else gets a good 'deal' from the fuel pumps?
I don’t have many engine mods at all only a Cold Air Intake.
It has now turned into a wierd club thing.

Best Kms from tank = "Km's Travelled" / ( "Fuel Used" / "Tank Size" )

    Club standards
    • Have A Commodore
    • Get at least 500 kms per Tank, 2 times
    • Gold for 551+ OR V8
    • Silver for 501-550
    • Bronze for 500

    Club Benifits
    • Braging Rights
    • AND 500 kms a tank in an awesome, non rice BURNER

Thats pretty good, and 500 is what Im aiming for. My girlfriends brother just bought a 1989 EA (?) Falcon, petrol only, and *claims* it can do 1000km per tank. I think its utter bullshit. I've seen that he does about 200km per quarter tank, and he's calculating 1000km on that basis. The fuel guage must be knackered? I've asked him to run the tank to empty, but he won't, which makes me think his guage may be knackered. It can't be possible can it....anyone prove me wrong?

Ohhh, with mostly city driving I make just under 500, about 450 in the good old ecotec.

I did fill up once before a lot of driving back and forth to the Gold Coast, and I made a bit over 600, does that count?

I'm in, regular weekly membership application to the 500 club. Do I get a special gold-pressed latinum membership for doing it in a V8 stato (factory CAI)?

63 litre tank no LPG no mods. Do you guys work it out the accurate way? Or drive till it's nearly empty and fill up?

i drove mine right down too 425km's, then filled up it took 46L, 17 left in tank.

thus it takes 46L or 73% of the tank too travell 425Kms' the in throry it would take 63L or 100% too travell 582Km's

Best Kms from tank = "Km's Travelled" / ( "Fuel Used" / "Tank Size" )
    582Kms = 425 / (46 / 63)

For all my experiences I have heard with Ecotec they chew more petrol then the non-ecotecs. Don't know why.
Anyway I will get 500km out of a tank if I do highway travelling only, does that count???
Because around town I only get 400, last time I got 390km.
But I had a leak in my fuel lines which is now fixed so I will see how it goes as I reackon I was loosing 10 litres per fuel tank which will give me an extra 70km.

    Cheers,
    Jim

I have gotten 550 or 560 out of my V8.

Mind you, there was a hell of a lot of highway driving and cruise control in that tank!

This would be an old entry but.....

My old VN Calais V6 with an Ecotec in it got well over 500klms from a full tank, trip was Sunshine Coast to St George, which is located about 500klms west of Brisbane, Sunshine Coast being another 100klms on top.

Trip also included fully loaded car and the Toowoomba range.

    Arrow fuel..

it costs me $70 to drive from tarragindi.Brisbane to tuncurry, NSW,(670 kilometers) vp 1993 v6 3.8L..ex cop car ....and i rarely stick to the speed limit...usually about 5 or 8 k's over..( if me missus is in the car ... elsewise a little more..) ...it takes about $50 to fill her( the car...not the missus..lol..) so yea... im in the 5oo club, i guess..but only when me missus is in the car......

You may or may not believe me...
But I drive surburban and country every day and am getting around 700km from my tank of fuel (No Bull Crap).

Even my VN Calais trip computer is pretty accurate and tells me that I am averaging 8.9(ULP) and 7.9(PULP) for my 63L, 1990, V6 Calais.

All I do is keep the engine immaculate (incl mechanical), I have a 2.5in exhaust and a K&N air filter.

Even when I was working in the city i was still getting at least 550L per tank

    Cool

I'm looking at buying a Vr/Vs for the wife but if they get less than 500km out of a tank I think I'll keep my rice burner Camry for the wife 570km+ every fortnight around town from home to school on $45 of fuel @ 99.8c/ltr.

Are there any mods that can do/get to help the fuel consumption if I do get her one as I would like to get a decent car for her!!

I know this does not get me into the club but shit, I think if you cant get 500k's out of a tank you should be in a club.......one that gets discounts on bloody fuel!!!!

    Regards Guy

p.s. Work mate said he gets 800km + from his VX on a long run.....now can I join???

p.p.s My old EA wagon would get about 220km out of the first 1/4 tank, 180km out of the 2nd 1/4, 120 out of the third 1/4 and about 60 out of the last 1/4 oh and about 20kms from the bottem of the red line to the oh shit did I bring the jerry can!!!!
120 in a 100 zone.....Sorry officer....I thought you where trying to give my wife back!!!!
