Default Few questions concerning new dash cluster.

Few questions concerning new dash cluster.

Ok so first off all I know there are a few threads made up about this. But I can’t find them and I have to go back to work in an hour and I would like to get this done tomorrow so I don’t want to spend all night searching this topic. So I apologise in advance

So I just bought this new level 2 dash cluster of eBay with 000002 kms on the clock. Now I was curious is there anyway that I can wined the clock up to my original reading?

At the moment I have a level 1 cluster will the level 2 cluster just plug right in ?

Also can anyone tell me exactly how I take out the old one and install the new one? I wouldn’t have a clue where to begin.

    Thanks heaps guys

To get the k's changed forward, you'll have to take to a professional to do it. I think someone said VDO can do them for you. Not sure where they are located tho.

Level 1 and 2 are interchangeable without any modifications.

    To get your dash out!

undo the 2 screws pointing upwards in the surround.
then undo the side screws also pointing up, which are undernear where the switchblocks are (cruise, trip comp etc)

then you have 5 plugs to unplug (duh) 3 on the left, 2 on the right. (this is a level 3 dash, i think theres only 1 on each side depending on what factory options you have)
The whole surround, including the switchblocks, will now be seperated, so you can get it out of the way.

then facing you, you have a 'naked' cluster, and 2 screws.
undo the screws, but make sure you have the right size screw driver.

Then the cluster will just pull out. Be careful not to break the clips that it screws into, as they are very fragile.

when putting it back in, make sure none of the wires for the switch blocks get caught where you put the cluster back in, as they're old and weak, and you don't want to cut any wires.

Thats just a rough guide from when i pulled mine out the other day. Mine is a level 3 dash, but all the screw locations are the same.

Yeah, if it's a VP level 2 dash it'll fit right in. I think Stealthy covered most of the important stuff

It's possible to change the odometer reading yourself. When I bought my L2 dash, I wound it back from 288,000 to 218,000. Havn't had a problem with it since. It's a little time consuming though, and you want to know what you're doing - because if you **** something up, or a cog falls out (and you don't know where it came from), then you're up candy creek.
