VP Speedo doesnt work then works!!

My VP Berlina speedo has started playing up. You drive off and nothing happens and then 10 to 20km down the road the needle might start jumping around and then further along it will settle down and work. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

hi my vn had the same problem, i think it could be the little cogs in the back of your dash, mine had parts broken so it would work then not work, you will have to find someone that fixes them or purchase a new dash.

there is a speed sensor in the transmission, my vp did the same thing, first i tried tightening it, but in the end unscrewing the sender and replacing it was the answer. no idea on price i had a spare car to take bits from.

it's most likely the speedo sender unit in the trans, they cost about $120 to fix
