You check it at operating temp. Either go for a quick spin around the block or with the engine on and your foot on the brake go through all of the gears from park to 1st stoping at each one for a second or so, do this for around 5mins.

Your best off taking it out, there's a reason they have a maximum mark on the dipstick.

yes this is correct, go through all the gears from park to 1 hold each for 5 sec (when u in the car and foot on brake) then back up holding each for 3 sec. you can then check oil level in park or drive. normally an auto will be fine if it over full but if you have any probs you'l have to take some out. th700's are very sensitive box's but you should be ok

too much trans fluid can lead to airration of the fluid which basically means the fluid becomes compressable and you'll loose holding power in the trans causing slippage/overheating and all sorts of other problems etc

and if it overheats and bubbles out the dipstick tube you could start a fire on the exhaust manifolds.

It can't overflow from the dipstick.

there's an overflow valve at the back of the trans. If you over fill it you just make a bloody mess all down the back of your block and trans.

It's best to suck some oil out with a hose through the dipstick pipe.
