hi i need some help with changing the crank angle sensor on a vp v6. any tips would be great!
erm
... you're going to need a pulley puller, the kind with a Y and 3 bolts to suit the balancer...
you might also need to get creative with removing the balancer bolt... it's a prick, it can be done with a rattle gun, but if you don't have one handy you might need a massive pipe and some park+handbrake action![]()
Another trick to getting the bolt undone is to put a piece of pipe over the breaker bar and rest it on the ground on the passenger side of the pulley. Pop the plug off your DFI module and hit the starter a couple of times in a quick on/off. The torque of the starter motor should crack the nut.
i tried similar in mine...
but it just kept on lifting the front of the car up a bit and bogging down
i ended up massively chocking the wheels (mine was manual, and handbrake didn't hold it properly at all, even in 5th) and getting a 2-3m street sign size pipe over my poor sidchrome ratchet....
the bolt cracked (let loose a little)... the ratched let loose (and has been playing funny buggers ever since)... and I flew against my folks AU falcon wagon (lucky it was there to break my fall)
since then i been applying heat/wd40/rattle gun to hard to get undone bolts![]()

I have been doing this for 20 years undoing harmonic balancer bolts. A bit of care, and a quick flick of the ignition never fails. The trick is to have a bit of slack on the bolt so the bar or pipe hits the ground rather than it being hard against it and letting the starter do the work. The worse that can happen is the socket falls off the bolt and it lands on the ground. If you thought about the procedure before knocking it, you would realize it is a lot safer than swinging off a street sign as VP_Luke did. No physical effort required, therefore no pain or injury suffered.

What sort of supervisor would let anyone stand in the way? I'm qualified too mate and my lecturer, 2 of my supervisors and every tradesman I have worked with since have done this at some stage. If you want to quote service manuals, you never use air impact wrenches on an engine.
If your so qualified, solve this yourself instead of taking the easy way out and asking on a forum of 'back yardies' .

I have said I worked in the exhaust industry for 18 years. I did my apprenticeship straight out of school and I earned more specializing in exhaust than regular workshop stuff. If you do your research properly you would see that I have never claimed to be qualified in any of these other areas. I have never claimed to know more than anybody, sure I have had debates and I have been the 1st to admit when I was wrong. And look at your sig buddy, seems you are the only tosser here.

Perhaps there should be a forum called "In Da Ring".....
The posts were there for a while, and if you read them then you would see I was the calm one. No abuse from here, just explanations.
