Default VN S1 - Remote Central Locking - How?!?!

How would you go about setting up remote central locking in a vn s1 berlina?

found the following kit while ordering some stock at work

    https://secure4.vivid-design.com.au/...Max=&SUBCATID=

would that sort of thing work? any other suggestions?

    cheers

Yes that would work as long as you had existing central locking now. I did one similar but I had a full kit and only used the remote part, wiring it into the existing central locking. Was a bit of trial and error getting the wiring right as it was colour coded to its own unit.
The other alternative is to use the complete system out of a VP but it is a bit more mucking around.

if that kit comes with the actuators...yes it will work
by actuators i mean,it's like an electric type of thing that can put pressure on your door locking snippets to obviously open and close them, if this kit has them it should have 4 of these actuators...obviously one for each door they fit in each door...so you will have to remove all door trims to fit,it should have 4 levers to connect from actuators to locking snippets, or if you like mechanisms, the wires run back from these 4 actuators to a control module (the one that came with the kit obviously)mounted usually underneath or behind the fuse panel,or even on the driverside kick panel

well, my car already has central locking so i was thinking i could just get the remote kit and try and wire it in.
jaycar does sell a complete set of actuators and all though but i should be able to wire that remote kit in right?

it shouldnt be too hard to wire in to the stock central locking right? has anyone had any problems with it?

oh and are there any faults in the stock central locking? mine seems to do some funny stuff on occasion :S

yes you should be able to just wire it in,but obviously it may not be colour coded to your factory one,so you will have to test each wire before hard wiring it in...
i haven't heard of any drastic faults with factory central locking, although i am the same as you, my calais does some funny things at times as well(central locking),more so on hotter days, for reasons unknown to me...

I have ordered an alarm kit through work that can hook into the vehicles central locking and give remote central locking in conjunction with arming/disarming.

Our supplier in this case is JayCar (its a StealMate alarm I think...). Anyway, here's hoping it does the trick... if not then at least it will give me a decent alarm considering VN's are supposedly pretty easy to break into
