I'm often down at the local Holden parked among the VE's SS's SS-Vs base models etc. When they first came out I use to think hey that's not a bad looking car! and that it will probably seem really good once I'm more used to it (even VT/VX's and the later AU's are looking ok these days so anythings possible!).
Well I'm used to VE's now but I'm finding them worse and worse looking as the time goes on! this is not normal, they are starting to seem really fat and high and ugly?.
When I have my VP parked next to one it looks so smoooth/low and racey compared to a VE and as far as cars go a VN/P isn't the prettiest thing ever made so yeah I'm starting to think the old VE is not really a good design
personally i think the Ve is one of the most ugliest commodores on the road, exterior wise

I reckon the VE's look sweet as. Park my VP lump next to it and it looks out of date.
i don't like it as a commodore, but i still think it's pretty nice, especially after seeing the turbo VE in the new SC (420 rwkw @12psi)
i think any commodore whether it be a base model omega VE or an older executive looks a little silly when the back end is sitting 2" higher then the fronts etc. from certain angles it does look a bit odd but overall i really like it. the AU is a but ugly car, no matter what you do to it, the did a better job with the BA/BF but some would say it takes a lot of styling cues from the commodore anyways

its not too bad looking, but hey holden had to make a car THE WHOLE WORLD would like for export purposes.
Just the plain VE V6 looks granny style but the V8 with body kit looks better and meaner.
The Omega is a heap, but everything else looks hot, SV6 and SS and Berlina look nice, Omega and Calais I aint so sure about. Great looking bunch of cars in my opinion though! Love the guards!
Yeah there's a huge difference in looks between the base/luxury models and the sport models. My VN exec looked embarissing too though when it just had hubcaps, 4wd suspension and grey exterior trim. I think the omegas look silly with huge flared gaurds and tiny wheels but the SV6 and SS look the goods. I admit my dads VE looks a little chunky next to mine, especially in the ass, but it looks much more aggressive overall.
And I like it better now then when I first saw it. It took a while to get used to the fact that it was a commodore.![]()
I agree with Foam. The more I see them, the less and less appealing they become.
I don't recognise them half the time as a commodore when I'm driving. They just blend in with all the other Euro cars on the road.

i never really liked them to start with but theres heaps of ve clubsports, gts and ss's around my area and im starting to really like them, i really dont like the standard version tho and also they look really hot as a v8 supercar.
only a matter of time b4 cops start usen them

There have been a few VE SS highway patrol cars cruising around here for the last 2-3 months, they look quite fearsome in white with all the police stuff hanging off them. The dodgy shape and lines of the thing seem to show up less when they are white and decked out in police stripes

the omega's look like a bus...
the SS's are ok, and well the clubsports are hot!
the cars got potential... what funs a car to do up if it already looks nutz???
cmon with those huge ass guards u could fit 20z in there EAZY, dump it on bags and you got a pimp car :P and atleast they made the calais faster, BTW the v8 super car ones look sooo chunkyi love it
i have seen one down here in ferntree gully..........even though i dont like the VE's as someone said before they do look slick in the cop uniform and the 19" wheels............wait are they 19"'s or 20"'s??? whatever they are they look tough..........only the copper cars though
I'm not a VN/VP owner, but I had to get my 5 cents worth.
I think most of the VE range is crap. They look ugly. The tail lights on the HSV models (round at the sides) are disgusting.
Exterior wise, I don't like them at all. Give me a VY VZ any day.
Also, I saw a VE Statesman (I think it was a statesman) parked in a driveway yesterday when I was riding past. At first glance I thought it was an an astra/barina - or domething similar. But then I went back and realised it was a VE. Didn't look so bad, but I didn't like it much either.
OVerall, I'm not a fan of the VE series.

i was speaking to someone the other day who has an omega and he reckons that it drives good and got some nice power but he said all the doors and boot feel and sound really tinny and he'd have a vz back anyday over the ve.
the only reason he is driving the ve is cos its a company car and he dont have to pay anything
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
the more i see them the better they are.
i reckon if they had a ford badge on them, every holden lover would hate them. i think they are butt ugly. not a fan at all. the more i see of them the more i don't like them.
In my opinion the design just looks incomplete. All except the SS and Calais V look unresolved at the rear and front, and just too... euro. Perhaps they'll introduce some subtle styling cues to rectify this if they do a series 2? The Statesman doesn't look too good either, but the Caprice is sweet imo
I know what you mean, parking a VP next to the VE though. Makes the VE look a bit like a london taxi.

i really don't know what i would buy. for one i wouldn't spend that much money on a car even if i had that sort of money. i would rather put that cash into something that grows. even in years to come when they are in my price range i don't think i would buy one.
i don't really like a lot of new cars. the magna's (380's) look crap, and the BA's are ok i spose. still not much of a fan of them.
i think if i was to spend 60,000 on a car i would pick something older that was going to go up in value..
fair enough![]()
