Hay everyone;
Is there a difference between V6 and V8 calipers on the Vp or Vq?
Part no. 4261444 single piston
Also, can you use a twin piston caliper, say from a Vt, as a straight conversion to a Vq with out any major changes? TA
I think the V8/FE2 style calipers became standard on 23rd of October 1992 which I believe was also VIN number 600,000 and series two but I may also be the only person that believe this:P. I went to order some brake lines the other day and they changed to the VR/VS style lines on the 23rd of October 1992.
Anyway you would imagine VQ's would have come with the finned/V8/FE2 caliper even on the V6 pre 23rd october (if you could get VQ's then?) just because they were such a posh and expensive model

greenfoams correct, there is no difference between all the calipers vn vp vr vs at all they all take the same pads and mount the same, just that the finned ones look different though not sure that all the lines are the same.... i am 100% certain that the lines are the same for vn in v6 v8 bt1 watever all the same
not quiet, they all use the same size brake pads, the finned calipers where originally for the turbo VL brakes and then used on the VN V8 models. the fins are there to assist cooling the caliper. from memory the turbo/V8 also had a slightly larger diameter rotor also. the brake lines will work on either. i recommend getting new copper washers to ensure a good seal if changing over etc

thanks;
i gave up on the thought of converting just for now or untill i do the discs again. I'll just stick to re sealing the single pistons at the mo. Now this is turning out to be another head ache.... blown two seal kits trying to get the piston to go in... F#*ken hell. Why is it so hard to get F#*ken prices and part no. for **** on the internet. It s seem easier to pick up the phone!!!!
cheers![]()
from memory the V6 had 270mm rotor and the V8 or FE2 had 290mm.Some time through VP the V6 got the bigger brakes standard.
first of the vp 6's to get 290mm rotors were the vacationers which came with S2 running gear
from the very first series 2 vp's got the bigger brakes as standard
