Do you need to notify the department of transport if you paint your car a different colour? eg White --> Black?

In adelaide you do, so i'd assume it'd be the same elsewhere.

This is so when the police do a 'check' your car comes up as a 'whive' car, as opposed to looking white, but being black.

Funnily enough, i asked about painting my wagon the same colour as my other car. Believe it or not, theres 2 cars are both registered as 'Grey'

haha, yeah, I'm not terribly worried about the cops.... they are normally pretty cool unless your being a ********. More the department of transport if a cop decides to be nasty.... Like driving a car around thats a different colour may have fines attached or something....?

Im in Vic, Cops pulled me over and were going over the car. Got me for a few things... anyway the colour change was one of them, coz i hadnt told Vicroads about the colour change. No fine or anything for that.... But was told i had to change it or i'd be in trouble next time.

Yeah in QLD you do. Most people don't bother but it's one more thing the coppers can give you a hard time about if you don't.
Just go down to Dept of transport (or probably Court house in Atherton if no D of T) and fill out some paperwork. No RWC needed.

On the Calais is the top colour obviously, but Ive had great fun with motor reg in the past re colour changes hehehehehehe. 'Burgandy' is not a colour either, its 'red'
