    Default water out of exhaust

Just a quick stupid question. I've just brought a 89 VN V6 from a mate and there seems to be a heap of water coming from the exhaust. when you rev it up it basically shoots out water. It looks all brown also as in rust?

The car was sitting in his backyard for a ages and now is garaged

I can post pics if needed. It just seems to be heaps of water.

Its just running Unleaded no gas.

    Thanks

have you checked out the oil and the radiator fluid to make sure they're where they should be.

also iirc some engines can put out water as a result of the cat, but i'm not sure how much (doubt it should be that visible anyway)

The oil is fine as far as i can see, what would i be looking at with the radiator. the car doesn't see to be leaking anywere. All oil, water levels all seem to be fine.

    Thanks

Water out the exhaust when you start a car is 100% normal. If you have ever woken up early in the morning and followed other cars around you will see that they all do it. Also since the car has been sitting for ages rust will come out with it for a while

Yeah but theres no real way that much water can get through the engine and out the exhuast unless it's made in the exhaust from the atmosphere anyway, not without your radiator running dry in a couple of minutes and the engine hardly running

When I didnt drive the VN for a month, Water "Appeared" to be comming out the exhaust for a good few weeks when i started driving it again. . . All good after some time. Condensation will sit in your "Cat", "Center" & "Rear" Mufflers.

    Cheers

    Well freind,

I would be a little worried about the fact that my car pisses rusty water. However, a good clear water in the morning out of exhaust pipe is a sign of a healthy engine. Ask any dumb mechanic! Good luck.

all unleaded vehicles do this .more so on first start up,when car is sitting around for long periods, and it also has something to do with emission control(you see cars driving around with steam/mist from exhaust whilst driving under normal conditions-although not all the time),so if nothing is out of place in the cooling department,it's perfectly normal

    nice attitude...but not entirely correct...unless i'm a dumb mechanic
the rust would only be where the exhuast is rusting,if you read their post he said the vehicle was sitting around for awhile....."hang on" i better check, thats what they said

If there's alot of water coming out the exhaust, and is continuing doing it, would that be a sign of an head gasket problem?

well common sense would then prevail.....don't you think? if the cooling system is fine, hence water level has not slipped down,it's not a sign of head gasket, sure it's a tell tale sign, but your cooling system would be down in water.....

don't fight over a problem thats not yours

It has stopped now. I've been running the car for periods of 20 - 30 mins the last couple of nights and it now seems to of stopped and is running better then it was.
