    Default v6 cylinder heads

    hi all,
ive just bought a 92 vp wagon, vgood nick, but with blown motor(noisy & no oil press.). Got a motor today(vn i think), When i got the motor home, sat it beside old & noticed has different inlet manifold, exh manifolds , 6 bolt at rear of crank not 8 .
Thought i would change over the inlet mani. so as to suit all the hoses ect on the vp just to find the heads are different at the rear (has an extra oil return hole)
Is this the diff between S1 & S2? , & can i swap the heads from one block to the other
    Any help gr8ly appreciated
    cheers Troy

sounds like the VN motor you picked up is a series one if i has a 6 bolt. there would be a few other diffences too, because the series one engine layout is shocking, due to the fact it was a E/W engine from the states converted to be put in the commodore engine bays as N/S.
as for the heads im not game to say yes you can swap them, there are small differences but i cant recall them, something about the water jackets? i think.

thats what im affriad off, dont really want 2 pull them off 2 check & have to buy head gaskets 4 nothin
best bet might be 2 put manifold back on & change all the hoses under the bonnet?

its less of a headache to just go pick up a s2 motor, but in saying that, you can whack the s1 heads on the s2 block, just have to drill the pcv hole in each head to use the s2 intake manifold. theres also a few things like rocker bolt thread sizes and such, but thats only something to worry about if sticking roller rockers on.

pick up a s2 motor, theyre cheap, ive got about 3 of the things sitting at home, 2 for free and one for $50(all in a not working state tho, but simple things)

the s2 heads will bolt straight to the s1 block, and so will the s2 manifold, no extra stuff needed. if you pick up a 6 bolt flexplate(the current motors bolted to an auto yeh?) the s1 should slot in fine im pretty sure
