Just done 275,000 k service and ya can still see through the oil and i just changed over to castrol magnatec to see how it goes.

Castrol Magnetec - Good oil. Next time try Castrol Edge, great oil

i have been told that CM is bad for older cars because it gets thin when hot or something like that, let me know how it goes

I have been using castrol magnatec for 2 years now. No probs

Well i have used castrol edge for the last 5 oil changes and noticed lifter rattle? 17500 k's now i have gone to magnetic and it has stoped it? now from my study on this oil which is 10w40 what is does is at cold start it is very thin hence the 10 and once the oil get warm it increases viscosity hence the 40

so it's thin when cold so it gets round the engine faster and once it gets warm it thickens to protect the engine

mate oils get thin when they are hot and are thicker when there cold. magnatec is not a good idea for the age of your motor.
