    Default Another T5 question

Guys im considering a manual conversion for my VN.
Now Holdens use the T5 box and so do Ford, my question is, are they similar boxes and can a Ford T5 fit into a Commy.
The reason i ask is because a mate has a T5 from a EA and i can have it if it will fit.

    Cheers
    Steve

check the ratio's first, they might be different first gear ratio to the commy's... form memory there is 3 different ratio's throughout the range of commy's

They are the same box,m but the bellhousing has to be off of the commodore one (obviously).
Not sure about the ratios, but i know they do work, as i was sold a ford box from a wrecker and it worked fine (until the box seized up because it was in a car fire)

Never buy anything mechanical from a wreckers

well, my car is an 8.

And i was told by a mate who saqw the box, that its from a 6Cyl falcon, so i assume those splines are the same. The Falcom V8 maybe different.

But hey, i could've been given misinformation, i really have no clue myself. I ditched that box and went back to a proper V8 holden one.

the ford t5 be it 6 or 8 input shafts are totally different to holden v6 or 8.

the ford 6 t5 is a better box but, just change the front shaft or get a clutch plate from dellows to use the ford box with the rest of the holden stuff.

Thanks for the replies, at least it gives me something to work with.
I didn't want to go asking in wreckers etc.

Holden Input shaft = 26 spline input, 28 spline output, v6 and 8 different lenght
