Default Max Kms Out Of Tank

    hey
i have a 1990 VN Calais, and i dont know what the norm is for kms out of a full tank, but i am only getting like 315? What is everyone else getting. If you wouldnt mind, if your car has any mods to help save economy and any tips on how to do it.
I just have a stock 3800, with K&N Panel filter in the standard air box with the front of the air box cut out....
    i dunno i thought i would at least get 350 or 370??

    thanks

You should be getting a lot more than that. I filled my tank the other day and set the trip meter. I've done a little over 100km, and it's only just under full. When I re-fill it, I'll see what the km's says.

But you should get better economy than that.

there is still heaps of petrol left in when the warning light comes on put not good idea to run it down that low.. picks up all the crap at the bottom of the tank ... could be a few things that cause it or just how the car is ment to run

yeh i am stopping and starting alot, my average fuel is 13L/100kms, i dunno whether i should trust the trip computer.
The O2 sensor ill replace and same with the fuel filter but i was reading in the vn owners manual about how to recalibrate the trip computer. I do rely on it becuase when i fill the car up i reset the trip computer and it tells me how many litres ive used...it must be off cause the fuel light comes on at 45 litres used....

It's starting to sound like something wrong with the system that gets the information on your fuel.

While it does make a difference, it should make that much of one. I do mainly city driving.

vn gal i agree, ill have to recalibrate it according to the owners manual..its annoying cause when i fill her up, it says "470kms until empty" but only lasts upto 310kms...annoying!

lol take it easy it is just the pick of the car .. my mate got a vr commodore wagon and every thing that can go wrong has gone wrong and i got a vr to and i give mine hell and nothing has gone wrong not even one drop of oil and that is hard to believe .. best thing to do would get someone to check it out and that wont cost much prob anything and then see what they say and get it fix if you can afford it thats what i would do and i m sure that is what alot of people would do to ..

I get about 10L/100km with about 60% Hwy 40% City. Dont rely on the trip computer as it is probably wildly inaccurate after all these years. Do it the old fashioned way and use the odometer on the next fill. If you still come up with 310km per tank then I would look at the oxygen sensor.
Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!
