Default lsd and non lsd diff pinions

hey guys, just watching a live axle lsd centre on ebay, but it has no pinion gear.

would the pinion gear from a stocko diff centre fit?

and whats the average going price for a second hand lsd centre these days?

    cheers

    troy

Crownwheel & pinion are a matched set. As for theprice of a 2nd hand LSD I dont know, just ring around a few wreckers.

Yea just change the crownwheel over to the one on the car now so you keep it with its matching pinion. Or it would be a good time to upgrade to some shorter ratio diff gears if you haven't allready done so. The 3.45:1s from a VL are cheap and were perfect for my manual, not sure what they're like on an auto though.

Yes it should still fit. However you may need to reshim the carrier bearings to get the contact & preload right.

When you wack it in make sure there is some backlash between crownwheel & pinion. Im not 100% sure on the exact amount just as long as you can feel some it is fine. (Is in my speedway car anyway)

Yes that's all you need for it to be an LSD. It doesn't come with the gears though so you'll have to bolt your crownwheel onto it (if you're not going to change the ratio at the same time).

Just remember if you are getting a lsd with the diff gears make sure you get the both crown and pinion gears as they are a matched set and you can not mix and match

If you can get that LSD on ebay for cheap it would be worth going to the wreckers and getting a set of 3.45:1 gears off a 6cyl VL to bolt onto it.
