    Default Problem With Front End

ok heres the problem ive listed below as to what it was doing and where im stuck!!!!

i have a toyota lexcen and when i turn a left hand corner it turns hard to the left hand and at first i thought it was just the bearing so i started with the right hand side and rocked the wheel and it knocks so i took the bolt off the disk and removed the brakes and unbolted everything. now im stuck with the bolt that comes up thru to the shaft that everything bolts onto. the bolt comes from the wishbone and thats where all the knocking is also from. my question is!!! the bolt that comes from the wishbone is that supposed to turn because the nut is flush with the top of the bolt and i cant turn it any more as the whole lot is turning. i have asked several mates and they say its not supposed to do this???? please any ideas would be appreciated as i need my car back on the road ASAP.

ok after reading your forums i have come to the conclusion that the problem is that its my balljoint so how do i tighten up this bolt.......

It sounds like you are trying to undo the ball joint. Put a jack under it and jack it up to push the taper back into the strut to put some tension on it and try again. Other wise you will have to cut it off. Cut down through the top with a hacksaw until you have split the nut. If you have access to an oxy set, blow it off, even easier. The grinding noise could be the tensioner or the idler pulley's, one or the other or both. They are the little black pulley's that the belt runs around that don't look like they are attached to anything but a bolt. The tensioner is at the top to the left next to the alternator, and the idler is to the right, and down a bit next to the water pump, which is the big one right in the middle. The one that looks like its wobbling is the big one at the bottom, that is the harmonic balancer.
