91 VN V8 - Mostly standard - CAI and nice redback exhaust.
Getting about 500kms too - between 14 - 15 L/100 city driving. When I was driving to Mt Barker (from Seaford) about 1 hour drive up the back of the Adelaide Hills, I was using about 11 L/100 - 600 + @ highway speeds 80 - 100 kp/h.

Compared to what a crusty old VC with a carby? then yeah they will use less than even a 202 but they do use quite a bit more than the V6 around town. On the open highway they use very little fuel, I can get better than 10l /100 ks if I'm sitting on lean cruise the whole way and the road is smoothish (not often the case where I live) but say if I wanted to drive from Melbourne to Sydney on a nice freeway I could make over 800ks to the tank then. On the other hand if you have a lapse in mental concentration and decide to give it some you can get them to drink alot of fuel very quickly. I still think anything that uses mre than 7 litres per 100 on the highway is shhithouse though it's not really good enough in these modern times

I'd tend to disagree about the V6 using less.

I have both (V8 Manual, and a V6 Auto) the the 8 is much better. Gotta love 5th gear.

I got maybe 400 max out of the V6, but can easily get 500 from a tank in the V8 (both the normal 63L tank, pissed off it doesn't have the 80L)

My average is always under 10, either city or highway driving, but i will say, on my way to sydney, i was getting 350 from a tank, however we were travelling a little bit faster than the normal city driving

Which is exactly why it's a bad idea to measure in km per tank. The best way to compare vehicles is to calculate L/100km or if you're talking trucks (or if you're just really weird) km/L. My VN gets 13 to 14 L/100km on mixed driving. 15 to 16 L/100km around town. Never really done a long highway run with it. Best I've ever gotten is 11.7L/100km.

i used to get between 550-600 k's to a tank with a stock stall and stock 3.08 ratio diff. 60 litre tank didnt think it was too bad but that was almost 80-85% highway driving, NOW ive got a 2800rpm stall, 3.45 diff ratio and its around about 400 k's to a tank 70%highway 30% town....pretty big difference when you think about it... cruising under 80k's an hour would get about 500 k's to a tank

Before I started modding it I used to get around 450km's to a 80lt tank (all my driving is stop start max 80-90km/h). Since I have 'fiddled' with it I get around 300km's to a tank.......but 4.11's will do that

baz... i have 3.9's in my VP SS and i get about 400km's highway driving... all i have done is 71mm YT T/B, CAI with K&N, pacies and twin 2 1/2" exhaust. oh, and thats with an auto with standard stall... and its got less then 150,000kms on it to if that helps.

im dredin fuel acconomy when i get a motor rebuild in a few months... but i suppose, if i wanted fuel economy, i wouldnt have bought a V8 lol
