Default need help with radiator hose poping off.

    hi,
i haven't been on here 4 a while but am in desperate need of some help.

i am unsure what is wrong with my cooling system,

i go 4 a drive and it heats up a little,
but when i pull up and stop the car i lose my bottom radiator hose.

the clamp is tight and the hose pops off the radiator losing all my coolant.

is my cooling system over pressurizing?
can some1 please help me with some sudgestions.

    its a vn v6 calais 5 5 spd s2 motor.
    thanks heaps.

sounds like it,take it to your mechanic and get him to pressure test your radiator, see if the hose pops of with pressure tester, could be anything from a water pump, radiator cap,do you bleed it after the hose pops off? is the clamp itself good,it may feel tight when in fact it's not

When the hoses deteriorate they go spongy, especially if there is any oil on it. Even though the clamp is tight it can still pop off. If the thermostat is sticking it can pressurize the radiator.

cheers for the reply, i really appreciate it.

i am a 1st year apprentice motor mechanic, so i have the very basic knowledge.

i did a pressure test on it today and it didn't drop which i beleive means it has no leaks. the hose wasn't leaking and it didn't pop off.

i was guessing/hoping the radiator cap seals may have gone and was over pressurising the cooling system which is a cheap easy fix.

i really don't wan't to take it to a mechanic as i can't really afford the labor
and i really wan't the experience.

i was pretty sure the hose clamps were
tight as i have refitted it twice and it has happened twice with different clamps.
i fitted it pretty tight but it seemed like it was over pressurising.

if it helps it happened when i pulled up at the lights and the car was stationary.

it also occured when i got home and turned the car off that is why i think
it may have been a radiator cap seal not releasing pressure when the engine is shut down.

thanks heaps for the reply. I am hoping its not the head gasket

it was slightly over heating so it also could be the thermostat jammed shut.
and it has all new hoses so i doubt it is the hose.

    thanks heaps for the replys.

Make sure that you've installed the clamp in the right spot. If you installed it a little too far out from the radiator it can seem to be tight but when the pressure builds up it will pop off.

That's what happened to me when I changed my water-pump last year, everything looked fine and car drove perfectly with no coolant loss for 20 or so kilometres then driving into work New Years Eve saw cloud in the rear view mirror and temp went straight up so turned engine off and pulled over

Sure enough bottom hose had popped off although clamp was still tight on the hose, thankfully was close to a servo when it happened...
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

    cheers for the replys.
it could be the water pump im unsure but i want to get it going.

it seems like its over pressurising or something similar.

and im thinking it may be the waterpump or waterpump related being the bottom hose that leads to the waterpump that keeps poping off.
