    Default VP Calais Steering Wheel

I just purchased a VP Calais Steering wheel for $20.00 Fixed the busted horn lug with a small metal pin and some glue, then painted it satin black.

I think it came up super.

Put it on the car and bugger me its smaller than the VN Calais steering wheel.

Now I'm going to sell the VN calais steering wheel.

Used a strong cleaner and let it dry. Then 5 light coats of satin black vynal paint. About $10.00 a can - no primer is required.

It dryes in like 5- 10 mins so not too heavy with the coats. Did all the curves first then filled in the flat parts. turned it over and did the same to the other side. Took about an hour to do - did other things while it was drying.

Taken it for 2 test drives with the laptop connected recording data with the new memcal tune. The wheel is um OK I guess not slippry at all. Almost no smell and it was painted just 24 hours ago.

I adjusted the trans kick down cable a few mil to fix a sloppy change into 2nd. Work too. Also started painting other dash parts ready for a black interia.

The data was for the new V8 tune and just putting it into the spreadsheet with the V8 data with the old tune to compare.

    I'll do the V6 SV3800 tomorrow.

Yep could not beleive it when he said $20 bucks - Couldnt pay him quick enough. I'd been there the week before and told him it was busted and wanted to have a go at fixing it. The cover is tight on the wheel frame - just had a busted lug which is easy fixed now I now how. Quick paint and shes smicko!! IMO

I think the VN SS wheel is black Calais type. This wheel came out of a white VP Calais and was grey. Was the VP SS wheel black too?

That is the same wheel that is in my VP Calais, except obviously yours is black and looks awesome i might add

i'm assuming yours was grey when you bought it? basically the colour of the wheel matches the colour of the whole interior. maybe slightly darker now that i think about it... nah its about the same.

    its a cool wheel though.

That wheel in the wagon is a VN Calais wheel (i think same as SS)

VP SS is the same as mine, but in the little square it has the red SS like the stickers on the doors. One at a wreckers for $350

I've just had a look at a few VP SSs, and it seems they have the same wheel as yours.

Maybe the wheel i'm talking about is from a series 2, or a leather optioned SS

I think the VN SS was black - Thats why I went for the Satin Black. The first paint job came up so well I kept going - Now they are all SATIN BLACK

The VN SS wheel is grey and is the same or almost the same as the VN Calais wheel, the VP SS wheel is black just like yours (after you painted it black) I have a VP SS wheel in my VP and it looks just the same as yours does now, so it's a very well done fake :!). Hakhawk just bought a broken VP SS wheel the other day so he will be happy to read about how you fixed yours
