    Default VP won't start

My friends VP won't start after a long trip but it's fine on short trips. It takes an hour or so for it to be able to start again.

the starter motor is going but the engine won't turn over.

any idea of what the problem is?

and the engine doesn't turn? may have a dicky starter solenoid not throwing into ring gear

if the solenoid is on it's way out it can present as an intermittant problem

i'm hoping i'm understanding your question correctly...starter works, but engine is not turning over what so ever?

Exactly. But it seems to only happen when the engine is hot and they need to start it again

crank angle sensor...found at front of motor behind your harmonic balancer,it's a white sensor, you will see it when you have a look(passenger side)

Hmmmm could well be the crank angle sensor,as if the solenoid was dicky,i wouldn't of thought it would only just do it when hot....

if its happening when the engines hot (after a kinda longish drive) then its your CAS used to **** me off hard trying to drive me and mates around. got it fixed and fitted for around $60

pour water over the CAS to cool it, if it starts when you do that, then you know the CAS need replacing.

I actually had a fan belt break, jam in behind the Harmonic balance, smash the CAS, and that was that.
However - I replaced the CAS, it ran fine for ten kilometers, parked it back in the drive, now it wont start again. Turns over, but wont fire. So the next thing is a box of matches .... So yea, wont start is a common problem it seems. dam.
