    Default water pump bolt snaped oh noo

    well yer i was tring to replace the water pump on my vn v6.. amd well it was all sweet except one of the smaller 10mm(or 11/16) bolts snaped the res came out good except one which looked prety rusty.. its one on the top passenger side is it safe to dril it out and re tap the hole..

    hang on i didnt see the pic properly . remove the shim plate and use a set of vice grips on it
    give the bolt a lil tap to loosen the thread

    on the vn series one they had a shim behind the water pump to the timing cover.

    drilling it out is fine as long as u dont go in on the piss. but if the thread is rooted u can get an insert where u drill a larger hole and tap it then insert a thread insert to make it the same threah diameter, it will be an m10 thread on ya bolt. not trying to make out ya dumb just a lil help :P

    i took off the plate thing and i could get to aprox 3 mm of the old bolt and i tried to used vice grips and it didnt work its rusted on good so im gonna try and get away with out driling it n use some gasket goo lol well ill c and if i get away wit out drilling it out it will be a bounus i guess.. other wise ill have to tow her into work n do it..

    spray some CRC in around the rusted thread, and wait an hour or so, then try ur vice grips again.. or yea drill and tap
