Angry newly installed tacho and now car wont start

A little while ago I instlled a tacho on my car down by the gear selector but didn't like it there so I moved it to just above the middle vents on the dash.
When I took it for a test drive the speedo and tacho kept dropping in an out then after a few mins she started farting around and stalling when ever I revved it, so I disconnected the tacho all together took it for another drive and just as I pulled into the driveway it stalled and hasn't started since I've even had the rac guy out to have a look an even he couldn't find anything It's getting fuel and has spark so everything is working there, this is the first time it really has me beat.

What the hell have I done???

Its prolly the lil thing that stops the car from starting when its not in Park or neutral.

Not sure wat its called, but that would probly be the problem if u moved ya tacho from near gear shifter.

power wires from tacho shorting out? blew a fuse somewhere in the process of removing it?

id say you've bodged some wires somewhere, with the speedo and tacho cutting out.

give the gearshifter a wiggle while u try n start it, but that shouldnt kill speedo and tacho while driving.

nah it's not that it was working fine when it was down by the gear shift. The engine will turn over but not firing like it's not getting fuel (but it is as there is fuel going around the injector rail), checked every fuse there is an they are all fine.

Rewire it back they way you had it? See if it still wont start? Was it connected to a kill switch? Did you cut any other wrong wires? Does the car turn over?

if all else failed you could take your dash out and check you haven't drilled into something, but it's a heinous job, so i'd look for all other options first

If you have it wired off the coil rather then from the dash wire, and it has earthed out the coil will not fire. Check that there is no loose or exposed connections.

yep I tried rewiring it back to how it was and still no go, there's no exposed connections that I could see, it was wired up to the tacho connection point by the left hand strut tower all I done was make the wires longer so it would reach up to the dash, it wasn't connected to the kill switch either it will turn over but just not start.

an my friken finger tips are killing me I might go have a smoke an go an lay down and

would the coil be stuffed if this has happened?

no. but if you havent touched the coil then its probably not that. it could just be a co-incidence, once i thought i drained my battery by leaving the interior light on all day, so i jump-started it, then the battrey flattened after a short while. so went and bought a new battery and same thing happened, turned out to be the alternator...

well I have got a flat battery right now but I think thats just from trying to start it soo much, plus the rac guy had a booster pack and it still wouldn't start even with "start ya barstard"(it comes in a spray can) sprayed down the throttle body

I think the problem was you put a tacho on a berlina when it already has a perfectly good one in your dash!

settle down man, i was just assuming going by the barrage of other posts similar, when the person already has a tacho.

It woud've bene cheaper for you to change to the level 2 dash, and you wouldn't have to cut or join a single wire.

Sorry if I sounded testy lol but it's got me buggered why anyone would want to put a tacho on the dash if there's already one the cluster

being a berlina u would think it would have had one but then again there is sooo many things that are different to what it should be. for example on the heater pipes the heater valve that is in it now is for a 92 onwards V8 and mines a 89

Did you drill into the dash? You may have drilled through the wiring loom... Which I also did Only broke 1 wire though luckily.
