before anyone asks, ive already searched, but i couldnt quite find what i was looking for.
Ive considered changing the coil pack (chocolate block) from my series one VN to one from a VS because ive heard they're alot better, but i also want to change the leads to topgun leads and get some NGK iridium IX spark plugs too.
My main question seems pretty obvious but id rather check before purchasing items etc. If i replace the coil pack with one from a VS, i must get leads to suit a VS coil pack right? and is there anything else i need to change to make sure everything fits right?
With the types of topgun leads, is it really worth going for the leads with the heat shield (part TG6106H) or just go with the standard VS leads (TG6016), and what is the price difference?
thanks.
I take it the vs is the same coil pack as the vn series 2 which is the rounded type.
If that is the case you can swap them over not a problem at all and you can use the same leads
Hope that helps
thanks, so it doesnt matter which type of leads i get? The top gun website says TG6061 and TG6061H for VS and VT, while it says TG6064 and TG6064H for the square chocolate block series 1 coil packs and TG6071, TG6071H and TG6071B for Vn series 2 coil packs.
As far as know the VN11-VR are the same and the VS is only different in the DFI plate not the coils.
Check to make sure the coils have the same numbering/firing order as the new leads will need to be long enough to reach each plug.
If youe extractors/headers are not heat coated go for the heat sheilds, you can use the factory ones but they are real hard to change over.
NGK IX iridiums are a good choice.
