Hi All,
Can somebody please help me my vns2 still wont start i've did the old paperclip test about 10 times and it keeps coming up with code 12.Which most of you know code 12 means all systems are ok!.Well before my VN died it was going ok as useual in the 60k and 80k zones. But once i hit the hwy and reached 100k's it would just rev out to 7grand on the tacho and would'nt go anywhere as i said she would just rev out. It's an auto and in 2nd she would drive ok and i did'nt get any of these problems then the car got to about 3/4 on the temp guage then died ever since then she wont start. When i try to start it she wants to start but wont has anybody got any idea's on what it could be.Iwant to get it fixed as i love my good "OL" VNS2 in the mean time i'm driving my Ford XG UTE around which is costing a fortune in petrol. My precious old VN is on gas aswell as petrol which is alot cheaper but it's just not the same driving my ute around compaired to my VN i just love it.SO COME ON SOMEONE OUT THERE MUST HAVE SOME IDEAS AS WHAT IT COULD BE?.
P.S. The auto is'nt that old but my diff has had a bad wined in it for about 6months or more but just recently it has gotten alot worse.Which does'nt suprize me as the diff has done about 500,000k's if not alot more.My engine has only done about a 1/4 of that amount of k's.
it kinda sounds like a ecu problem at a quess not 100% sure
does is turn over just isnt firing at all cause it could be ur dfi module under the coil packs or the crank angle sensor could be stuffed apart from that i am not 2 sure
Hang on, so you're saying it went ok at low speed but when you put the boot in on the highway it just free revved out to 7grand, no forward drive whatsoever and you came to a slow halt kind of thing? After this episode did it drive at all? Ok for starters the buick is NOT going to be very happy with those revs. Secondly, if I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly, your egine was free revving while in gear, which does not bode well for your drive train in the slightest.
Anyway, the starting problem. Check for spark on each cylinder, check for fuel pressure, if you have those then check for compression. Always check your basics first.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

Thanks for your help fella's as i said my diff is'nt to good my CAS i've noticed i can move it side to side about 1or2mm i think this is because when i changed my harmonic balancer last year the CAS bracket cracked on one side but it was still tight with no movement.Thats why i did'nt put a new bracket on maybe i should've.But i'm going out soon to check spark ect i've plugged a differant ECU in but still no go.I'm thinking mybe my CAS as when i move it slightly it'll nearly kick over but then move it back 1/2mm and it wont i'll just have to keep my thinking cap on and check everything.Even though it's abit hard as i only got 1 arm to work with as i got a metal plate put in my whrist on Monday. But i'll get it all done as i want 2 bring me VN back to life.
Ill put my money on the CAS. The CAS has a sensitive magnetic pick up in the tip of it which will break under shock, so if the CAS has enough movement to hit the blades on the harmonic balancer it will be damaged.

Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!
I checked everthing else so i'm putting my money on the CAS i should've changed the bracket it sits in when i cracked it a year or so ago.Even though it was still tight i new oneday down the track it would stuff up.Well i just rang my local commo wreckers and they have brandnew ones thats the CAS and bracket for $50 or secondhand for $35.So i'll go buy anew one borrow my mates pulley he is a machanic by trade so i'll get him to alighn it all.
