    Default remote boonet latch

    hey guys

has anyone heard of a remote button the open the bonnet instead of the cable in VNs? it works just like your boot release.

    cheers

I'm thinking that any such system would require a pretty powerful actuator to wind back a VN/VP bonnet hard enough to reliably pop it. I've never heard of such a kit, and I imagine it would be fairly bulky and expensive if it did exist.

That's just me, though. I'm frequently wrong

lol this bonnet latch was made by holden but the stopped making it because they couldn't open the bonnet after crashes. so in away it would be good but then again when your battery is flat have fun opening the bonnet.

lol yea, you'd want some sort of over-ride. I can see flat batteries, worn alternators and blown fuses causing headaches just for a start At least when boot actuators fail (and they frequently do) you can open the damn thing with a key.

not mine... ive welded over the boot hole because someone decided that they would try and break into it, hopefully the electric release wont fail but it now looks heaps better... to answer the question i have never seen one before either, didnt even know that they existed...

oh well, if all else fails you'll just have to do what I did to my old mazda after its accident: develop a manual release which can only be activated by crawling into the boot through the back seat and forcing the latch with a chisel.

Might I note that this also had to be done to -close- the boot, as the mechanism wouldn't catch by simply lowering one onto the other... the whole rear end was off-centre. Imagine actually getting -INTO- the boot of your car every time you shut it... ...

hahaha had to do that in my laurel after a bit of sideways action...... the hole in the center of the seat wasnt big enough for me so i ripped it out and cut the hole bigger lol.... was just a drift hack so it didnt matter but wed moved the battery to the boot and had to open it quite often

vn - vp are well known for the two person approach to opening the bonnet...as good as it sounds...why not stick with the old lever and cable
