mates vn clubsport when he put on the brakes the parkers would come on, that light looks like the one that comes one when you have left your lights on so you could be having a similar problem.

Switch is on the master cylinder I think, so it could be that that is faulty.

make sure that the stop light globes are of the right wattage, had to fix a jag once that had the same fault,i found it had a 2 watt globe instead of a 4 watt globe in a parker

Sounds like it is the blown globe warning light - if it goes away when you put your foot on the brake that normally indicates that it's not the brake lights.
people often forget to check the number plate lights - did you replace those?
Other than that, what PRH suggested....

I've just checked my Statesman handbook, and that's exactly what it is- and the person starting this thread has a VQ Statesman....not a Commodore

They still run the same dash clusters, so VQ Stato or not it has the same warning lights a Commodore does (Calais atleast).

True, the components are all there, but are disabled on the Commodore. I'm pretty sure that it's all enabled from berlina upwards....

there are 2 of these types of lamps in the VN-VP which one is it?
one will appear just like you said !,the other one will appear like this (!)
have a look next time you have your ignition on,just before you go to kick it over.
this one is brake problems (!)...now i have never come accross a problem with this one,but i am only assuming it means information !
