i just got back from autobarn and picked up my new springs i ordered. king springs super lows all round and my shortened shocks for back, now this may sound stupid but there was 2 boxes one with skinnyish springs and the other with really fat big ones. which springs go on what, is it the big out the back and small at the front? my cars not at my house so i cant go down and look at it.
ummm.... look under the boat you have sitting in your driveway and find out?????
Check the part numbers on their site.
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
LOL, come on. wats the part numbers on the boxes? take a guess
(its a fun day today, so me n some others are in a **** stirring mood)
thanks airstrike, it may have sounded like a stupid question but this is the first time i've bought anything like this, i went to autobarn said i want super low springs front and rear + shortened shocks for my 91 VP Live axle and she did it all i paid the money and 2 days later i picked them up.
So what are the part numbers? Im interested to see what springs they ordered you anyway.
And what brand shock absorbers?
On the box there will be a part number. If it has an F in it they will be the fronts, if it has an R then they will be rears. The fatter of the set will be the fronts.
Ok then, there is an exception on the VP. KHRL part number are the rear springs then.
i got. KHPR-22SL and KHPR-20 and monroe sensatrac. the pictures can be viewed at http://pr0n.ozphreak.com/carstuff/
the images are just under a 1mb each, cbf rezsizing them

Ah ok cool, yeah superlows all round as you said. KHPR-22SL is superlow fronts, KHPR-20HD are Superlow Rears.
As found out in another thread today, monroe's are standard height shocks.
well meh, at least i can say i've replaced the shocks
They work fine... I use monroe shocks in mine and I run superlows on the rear(I thought they were shortened)
Sure they're not KHRL20HD for the rears? I wouldn't put sensatracs on a lowered car. The valving is two stage, normal in the middle and firm at the top and bottom. If you lower the car, the shock will sit in the lower part of its travel, which will mean when cornering the outside wheel will not get into the firm section. It won't handle any differently from standard shockies. Use a Pedders or Koni's. Bit dearer but a firmer ride if thats what you're after.
look at the photos cause thats what i got.
well i told her i wanted shortened shocks and she said yes these are the ones. i couldnt give 2 squirts of goats piss if my springs fall out when i jack it up. how often do you jack your car up?
They wont "Fall out" they will just not sit in the seat right, just have to push them in when u go to drop the car.
If the springs are lowered too much they will fall out. I've seen it happen on a two post hoist.
Monroe have shortened rear shocks, the part numbers are different in their book for normal height and shortened. The front is the same tho, same part number for both standard and shortened. When I jack my VK wags up the lowered springs don't fall out, so I guess they are shortened shocks afterall.

Not for VN/VP etc. they dont, not according to their catalogue.. Part numbers are the same for lowered, standard height and raised suspension and they reccomend no more than 25mm variance from standard height.
My springs dont fall out at all when jacking the car up, they stay trapped. I jacked the car up twice in the last 2 weeks, and will be doing it again cause I need to rotate my tyres.
dude, i posted part numbers for non irs rear shocks for vn/p in that other thread. they have different numbers for stock and lowered, there isnt a lower shock for the front end, although, i did notice different part numbers for sesnatrack stock height and sensatrack lowered height for the front.
my rear shocks are the lower monroes and they are specifically lower than the stock height shock by about an inch.
ok, i got these screenshots direct from the online www.monroe.com.au website.
you can clearly see that:
there are no "short" front shocks available in gt gas for vn/vp
there are "short" front shocks available in sensatrack for vn/p
there are "short" rear shocks available in gt gas for vn/p live axle, sedan and wagon
there are "short" rear shocks available in sensatrack for vn/p live axle, sedan and wagon
there are no "short" rear shocks available in gt gas for vn/vp irs
there are no "short" rear shocks available in sensatrack for vn/vp irs
