OK...now i know i have said in the past, that you don't have to change ECU's when doing a 5speed conversion in a VN,it's what i was taught, and when test driving, there didn't appear to be any variations in throttle response, etc, etc between the 2 auto and manual.
i had time to muck about with my calais(series 1) today,i decided to take out the auto ECU running with my 5 speed, and put in a manual ECU out of one of my other VN's,took it for a run,now i think it was Greenfoam that said this, in one of his posts...the power of the mind....my calais now with the manual ECU in it, seems to be much more responsive and gruntier,(actually sounds different to)any memcal tuners,or memcal knowledgable people out there, tell me if this is actually correct, that there is no difference between auto and manual ECU's....or is it my mind telling me it feels different

well the earlier vn memcal tunes were more aggressive than the later series 2 tunes, thats all i can think off..
Power is measured in DECIBEL
the ecu's are EXACTLY the same, vn through to vp, manual and auto.
it would just be the different memcal tunes.
Yeah you might have but a series one tune in it when it had series 2 before but the manual and auto are the same
thanks....must be the mind, playing tricks,
like i said i was taught that autos and manuals were the same,it just felt different, both ECU's are out of VN series 1's.there is nothing on the memcal to suggest a performance chip,(like a sticker)looks pretty well standard.
thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated
what are the codes on the memcals?
i'll take a look tonight at 2 auto memcals and 1 manual, the other manual one is in my calais,i won't have time to take a peek at the codes on that one till the week end
i can't remember who it was,no-one from here, but they say theres a difference in the idle curb for manual and auto, does that sound right?also something to do with the autobox....i dunno,i'll have to chase the e-mail down that i recieved about a fortnight ago.
