cobra...and someone else mentioned mongoose as another good system, depends on what the value of your VP is worth, and accesories.i priced one about 6 months ago $700.00 full package.it has the works, central locking, movement sensors in the vehicle, engine immobiliser, height sensor, remote entry doors and boot, alarm goes off when any glass is broken,bonnet/boot is prized open without unloking car,GMH used the cobra alarm on the VN's but finished up with them when the VP started production,so there must of been a cheaper anti theft supplier after the VN's

just buy yourself an immobiliser, kill switch and a pro lock. Total cost is about $300

the only thing an alarm does is make a loud noise, that lets be honest no one gives any notice to. Have you ever seen a car alarm go off? did you go and tackle the person closest to the car and call the cops? no, you looked and walked off, just like me and everybody else. So what would the alarm do for your car?

chances are that the alarm is set off by the bad man breaking your window in an effort to steal your car, so with or without the alarm worst case is you will get a broken window. unless your theif is a mastermind and is bringing on of the computers to hack into imobilisers, and has a hack saw to cut the pro-lock, and knows where you've got your kill switch hidden. And if they know all of that, chances are they're too smart to be stealing a VP

Mate, an immobiliser is great to stop someone stealing the whole car, but what about everything IN the car?

Thats the advantage of an alarm... It stops people stealing everything INSIDE the car...

And if you dont think people will take notice, get a pager alarm so that you know immediately when your alarm is set off.

well no,not 100% true boss, well not here in tassie, and especially with me,my calais has been targeted 5 times by a would be thief(ves)i definately don't look the other way, usually when an alarm goes off, the person goes red faced, and walks off acting stupified.if you see them with a remote in their hand,it's usually a good sign, that it's the owner that has tripped their alarm accidently,as they frantically fiddle with remote to turn it off, iv'e done it myself, people come running from everywhere....totally embarissing.

ive recently had a Hornet installed by autobarn. hasent upset me yet so i could recommend it. Has all the good bits you get with a cheaper alarm ($350) would recomment a steering wheel lock too as this is sometimes enough to keep the worthless runts away.
