what gear is it better to drive in ? the D with the blue square around it or the white D underneath it ??
in my VP i always ride in blue D...i call it double D...but yeah...and if i need to engine brake i rip her back...but below 82 clicks it does bugger all...that appears to be the speed at which overdrive takes over...so yeah...double d 24/7...single d to engine brake...my choice...
<insert 2 pages of arguing over what is better for the box>
<inset another 2 pages about if engine braking destorys autos>
i always hold mine out of overdrive <80km/h. mainly because i hate having the auto flairing all the time as it drops in and out of overdrive.
lol so the blue D is overdrive so drive in it or not?? i have been driving in blue D but i was told dont drive in it below 80km bcoz it screws my transmission??
as far as i know...blue d always is ok...i dont know mechanical wise...but theoretically...ur always having the option of overdrive instead of having to engage it...
I say do whatever feels best and suits your style of driving. Autos wear out eventually anyway, may as well enjoy it while it lasts. If you fit an extra transmission cooler, that can help prolong its life. Personally I leave it in 3rd in 60 and 70 zones and if theres a lot of stop and start. If I've got a trailer on, I'll leave it in third (or second) for everything except the highway. Car's got 312,000km on it, i've been driving it like this since i got it 40,000km ago and the auto is still in decent nick. They really are quite durable as long as you don't do anything totally retarded to them.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.
