The biggest problem I face initially is, How do I stop the engine from turning as I try to loosen the crankshaft bolt from the harmonic balance?
I dont have access to a good workshop to make a lot of stuff, and am no where near any shops (out in the sticks here)
I can probably get the harmonic balance off with the usual bar+screw driver+brute force thing, all just to replace the bloody crank angle sensor. What a stupid place to put such a thing ! The fan belt broke, wrapped about inside the harmonic balance, and destroyed the CAS.
anyway, maybe I can get a small rattle gun to it, but I stil lneed to stop that crank from turning.
thanks

Harmonic Balancer Problems
Well, spent the whole day on this thing. 5 Bloody hours! Got the harmonic balance off finally. replaced the CAS, checked everything out, double checked it all, replaced everything, started car. Fired fist crank, and ran sweet as a bird. Drove down the road, stopped twice, restarted, probably covered 6 to 10 kilometers max, pulled up at the house and switched off.
Loaded the boot, hit the starter - crank crank crank .....!!!! what the hell !!!
That acar now wont fire up at all. Lights are on - nobody is home. Dash lights on, cranks over - but simply now wont start.
Its behaving just like it did when the CAS was broken. But this is a brand new one, the car ran fine for a while, and now just wont start at all.
Did the plug fall off the CAS? Check that, if its still there, pull it off make sure its clean and plug it back in, push it hard and you will feel it click in.
electric rattle gun gets it right off easy
also make sure u have the same harmonic balancer as there are about 3 different types!! i installed the wrong 1 on my vp and when i started it up it started idled then died..........the harmonic broke my crank angle sensor!! so make sure u have the right size harmonic as the grooves on the rear are different between each 1!
