gday . when i turn my light on nothing lights up in my dash or in my gear changer ? but if i push near where my lights are and push accros they come on but as soon as i let go they turn back of again but my headlights stay on ?? can anyone help me please!?

when you turn your lights on, but before you push, do the headlights come on?

sounds like a simple lack of connection, i'd take right switch bank off and check the connections, maybe scrub them up a bit.

Pull your cluster out, dissconnect your switch blocks, take it out, clean what you can, install it making sure you press all connecitons in very firmly.

It sounds like a poor conneciton somewhere..

Your issue is that your DIMMER switch isnt working. The circut runs through there... they are gonna charge you $50 for osmehting you can do for FREE! Check your dimmer switch (thing that mkaes lights less bright in dash) before oyu take it to them. Its most likely to just not be plugged in properly...

went to 2auto electricains both said my switch was stuffed and a new one would cost $280 but theres none in australia . one guy said to me i need a new binnicle switch or something which i can pick up for like $70 any ideas or anyone have one?

You hav'nt said if ya tail lights are functioning,if an auto elec has told ya ya headlight sw is up the putt then ya might be able to repair it.
its worth a go i'm not sure whether ya can get into the switch or not but at times i have cleaned the contacys on the switch or bent the brass strip that the contacts are mounted on,VERY GENTLY
If ya cant get hold of another or fix it give me a yell coz there is one on the statesman that im stripping the interior out of to fit into my ute.

Man, auot elecs are so full of crap.... IF you need a new switch, there what, maybe $20 from a wreckers! damn.... worst comes to worst, you need a cluster.... what, $40 at the most... $280 and thers is non in australia.... hahahaha man i wish i could punch that guy in the face... I dont think aything is stuffed, i reckon your dimmer switch is eihter not pluggded in or faulty.... If your switch is working, which it is... its somehting else...

There is NOTHING at all in a VN/VP electrical system (apart form battery) that would cost any where near $280... even a new ecu isnt anywhere near half that.... you are getting ###ed up the arse 6 ways from sunday by three black men...

hah yer i thought $280 was a bit rich , my headlight flicks to the parkers easy but then i have to force it to get to my normal lights and then the dash dont light up , my dimmer is fine

i just took the cluster of bloddy screw wasnt coming . all the wires look fine but my platic knob thing to turn the ligts on is so **** ! , i saw the brass wire wrapped around the black wire i think .. should i pust that up or un do it and put it further up?

got pics? You say statesman??? you have a vg dont you? what oyur desciribing now is your light switch (thing that rolls towards you) has crapped itself, fair enough, what style switch block do you have?

Can you post what other buttons you have on the same block as your light switch?

here's a story.
my high beams weren't working. i had to flick the stalk heaps, it'd maybe work every 3rd time.
i took it for a service and mentioned this to them, they said it was the switch block and quoted something similar to you.
i thought yeah, right. went to a wreckers, bought one and tried that, same problem.
then i took the fuse out from under the bonnet, the heads were gunked. i cleaned them and highbeam'd good as new.
(but i did then need a new stalk because clicking it so much had made it loose to the point that the highbeams would flick on whenever it went over a bump)

the moral of this story is that people are full of lies (except me) and you should try every simple answer yourself. the worst that can happen is you learn something (or set your car on fire)

Yeah i got a complete interior,the switch is still in the cluster,if ya want it send me an email, $280 is pretty rude maybe they quoted you on the dipper switch,did they both say a similar amount of $
To get the cluster out there are 2 screws up under the switches towards the rear,when ya get the switch panels out ther are 2 more screws behind them that hold the facia on,be real gentle coz they are easily broken

Mate, you can replace that whole switch unit for $30.... Go get one from a wreckers or ask churnit on here....

my mate just tole me coz he was travelling behind me that u can only see my brake lights when i brake but no lights show up when im travelling normally??

i took my cluster out and everything looks fine .. if i got the cluster of u PRH would this fix it?

if ya do just swap his switch into your car,if alls good ya laughing but it sounds like its the switch thats NFG to me.
20 bucks plus postage sounds ok to me,have you tried your local wrecker ?

nah no one has the same car to me , and nah havent tried\wreckers but $20 plus postage sound good to me!
