Hey all,
I just wanted to confirm with you that on the V8 VN motor the Throttle Position Sensor runs off the butterfly right?
Someone tried telling me that if you don't have a good throttle cable it can stuff up the way the trans works, but as far as i can tell the TPS and the kick down cable are connected directly to the throttle, and therefore whatever condition the cable is in won't effect the operation of the trans at all.
-Cheers

thats right, it all runs off the shaft the butterfly is on

Sorry but thats wrong, the TPS is located underneath the throttle body and has wires comming out of it. The accelerator cable and kickback cable is attached to the throttle linkage which is then attached to the butterfly.
And if your cable is damaged or stretched it can stuff up the changing in the gears, the T700 transmission works off pressure valves and if you've got a damaged / stretched cable it doesn't give the right pressure in the tranny
I've compiled these references so far for my small claims court case i've discussed in the other forum ( HELP, i'm getting rorted by my mechanic! )
If you look at these web sites you'll see that you've got it wrong commodore chick.

As you said, the pressure in the tranny is regulated by the throttle valve cable which connects DIRECTLY to the throttle (which is also connected to the butterfly and TPS). The only function of the throttle cable is to move the throttle, which then operates all the sensors, therefore, how the throttle is moved is of no consequence at all.
True if your TV cable was dodgey then yes it would stuff up your shifts and pressures, but the state of the throttle cable doesn't effect the operation of the ECU or transmission at all.
plus the 4th year spanner spinner agrees with me anyway :-P
