Default Couple of technical questions.... :)

Hey guys. I have a couple of threads on here about a couple of problems i've encountered after i put a CRS supercharger onto my VN Series 1 V6. I've gotten around my leaking rear main problem and not getting a vac anywhere.

It all seems to be running ok now apart from my pipes blowing off everynow and again, but ill be getting 1 pipe fabricated to elimated all those joins that blow off all the time.

My only few questions shoulnt be too hard to answer. For all of you that are running one of these kits, or a similar one, what setting have you got your fuel reg set at? I have just a cheap brand rising rate fuel reg on and i just threw it straight on and it ran alright so i didnt change it. I never really looked at the guage on it until today and its reading 75psi at idle. I dont know about you guys but that sounds a bit too high to me so any advice from experience would be good.

Also, i bought a boost guage and plumbed all that in as well. The problem im having is that it will not show boost. At idle it sits at 20 on the vaccum side but when im driving and i put my foot flat it will only go back up to zero but no further. As far as im aware it should be showing boost right?

To make things easier ill explain how its hooked up. Basically im running everything off the nipple that comes out of the side of the intake plennum, the one that originally went straight to the stock fuel reg.

From the nipple, a hose goes to a T-piece, where it goes to my rising rate fuel reg, and to my blow off valve. On the hose that runs to my fuel reg i have another T-piece which runs to my boost guage. Now just out of curiosity i pulled the hose directly off the nipple while the car was running and held my hand over the nipple and revved the car to see if boost came thru the nipple after i revved it. All i got was more vaccum once the revs were increased.

I'm somewhat confused as to what is going on inside this motor (lol). I also connected the boost gauge to one of the lines for my carbon cannister (on the side of the throttle body) and went for a drive and all the guage did was sit on 0 at idle and then go down to vac when the car was revved. Now that made me very confused. I'm usually pretty good with cars but im stumped as to whats going on.

If anyone has any ideas or advice that could possibly help me with my venture through the world of boost, itd be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all those who also helped me in my other threads.

    Cheers, Tim

Ok just a quick answer to your 2nd question you need to have your boost gauge on the boost side not on the intake side as it can not show you any boost from there

well it should show boost from the fuel reg line, are you sure that the electric clutch on the charger is operating, and not just being a useless pully? that would explain the vaccum under revs

where r u getting power for the clutch on the pully from? did u try running the bov of the map sensor vac line and the boost gauge and fuel regulator off the fuel fuel reg vac line?, what kind of boost gauge is it have u got a pic of the face? u could only be making 1-2 psi of boost so it might be hard to see on a gauge with close numbers, where is it mounted? maybe it's the angle u r looking at it from, if its in the middle near the air vents that is, since the pipes keep blowing off could they be leaking boost somewhere, can u post a few pics of your setup?

Hey. When i said my gauge and other accessories are on my 'intake manifold' i mean that they are actually on the manifold itself, so it should get both boost and vac, i think u might be thinking that its before my supercharger. My boost gauge is sitting down in the part underneath my cd player, but it is angled up towards me so i can see it clearly. Its only a speco gauge, i didnt want to spend big on a guage at this point in time. And i dont have a clutch on my charger. Its just a solid pulley, so its running all the time.

I guess ill just have to wait and get my single pipe made up and then ill definatly know if im getting boost or not coz there wont be any leaks as it will just be one piece. Thats cool tho.

But does anyone know what the go is with my fuel preassure reg question?

I bought the kit off a mate who had it all made up for him on his car. I paid $500 for the whole lot. It was pretty cheap, or so he keeps telling me. HAHA.. Basically the pulley looks like it may have been made up for this application. Only reason i say so is coz it has welds around the outside of it, looks like itmay have been a 2 piece pulley at one stage and they have welded it up. I'll get some pics up soon.

It's just strange coz its definatly working, i mean ive noticed a power difference since putting it on. And when the pipes blow off u can sure feel the air blowing out.. :d
