i think your engine wouldnt be the only one ending up there.... try extractors, definately a set of 3.7:1 ratio diff gears, getting a tune done and it shouldgo heaps better

All this just to beat an Integra? Forgot to add, performance will also depend on the condition of your engine. Just because its a V6 it does not mean it will win all the time against a 4cyl.

The GLX is bling version of the Lexcen so it's probably pretty heavy. Some models of Integras are faster than the average VN V6 so you might just have to accept that

stage 2 shift kit with corvette servo will really help get the power to the rear wheels better. full service including fuel filter and injector cleaner and a trans service (full flush)

I doubt your going to pull an extra 23kw just from a chip upgrade. Remember its only a stock V6...It probably dosn't even have 127kw anymore, its a old VN, some are great, some are ok, some are just pain bad. I think you've just got to live with the defeat, unless the VN is for you, then spend some dorra on her and make her beat that Teg.

if you actually want to spend money on the car to soup her up, not just to beat a teg, i'd look at CAI and maybe new filter (~$150), extractors, zortst. (~$600 2nd hand) maybe look at a cam with the rest, and ask someone on the forum to knock you up a chip.

but then, for that money you could maybe get a v8, sell your lexcen and put the profits into THAT.

What model/year of Integra was it? 'cause if it was one of the newer Type Rs, then you shouldn't even bother

Good point Morton, we all missed the fact of what kind of Teg it was. If I am correct the V-tec models came in around the year 1993, If it was a Type-R then you went up against a nice little Honda. Now we must sit and wait for his reply.....

Aye, Type-Rs can be deadly. The '94+ model put out something like 200fwhp, and had insane rubbish like hand-polished ports. And the lengths they took to make them lighter? The list would go on for pages.

Hell, come to think of it, even the early boxy 1.7 put out similar power figures to the commodore. around 120fwkw or something from the vtec. And once again, they don't weigh 1.3 ton.

Only problem with the integras is they don't make power 'till 5000rpm, so if you're up against an auto, you should catch them on the launch, and most of the way through first... did the type-r even come out in auto? I would've thought they all had the 5-speed. meh... either way, if you want to bet a good 'teg, you need two more cylinders

or just add some good ol rb 30et power! = integra
why? same price as a 5litre second hand, less weight (will improve steering ) more responsive to power mods (imo) do a few little things and before you know it you will have a very nice machine capable of some damn quick times at the track!

    Thanks for the input guys.

For those who are wondering it was not a type r, just a stocky (as far as i could tell from the outside) but it was the latest model. I got ahead at the start but he had it all over me at the top end.

All beside the point really, it was just the catalyst for posting, fact is ive been debating this issue for a while with a mate of mine whos got a vp. Selling the vn aint an option, i love it, got superlows, rims, and i picked up a group a front bar at picknpayless 2 weeks ago for $90! so ima work with what ive got. Im thinkin the 6 is a waste of time, spend 2k on an an 8, wait a bit, then fit that thing and slowly do it properly is the way to roll.

    Cheers.

Useing the V6 as a base for a non boosted performance engine has been pretty much proven to be a big waste of time since years ago, the fastest of it's nut one ever is like 13.6 and that's doable by even the most mild 304 with a little cam. So yeah go for the wrecked V8 swap into your body or just buy a whole car if you can handle sellign yours, but sounds liek you want to keep the car. Unless you are very sneaky and can prove to vicroads that your lexcen is really a commodore you will have to pay 600 bucks or something for an engineer to approve your conversion

Look The Integra Is One Of The Quickest 4 Bangers Out There, for A Buick V6 To Come Close You Need More Than A Taxi Motor And Some Plugs To Get Near, The Exhaust, cai Blah Blah Is For The Adverage Jo Blow Buit If You Want Fast Save Ur Cash Get A Decent Bottom End Eg Decent Forged,or Hypertectic Pistons 3 Angle Grind Heads Flowed Good Gear, some Good Induction, decent Cam,stroker, diff, haltech Ecu,decent Traction And Ull Do Well.

If You Dont Have The Cash Or The Time, Id Do The Simple Mods Then Go From There But Don't Expect A St Weapon Without The Time,$ And Effort.
    Cheers.
