yesterday nite was drivin round with mates and while i was doin bout 80, i went to speed up and all of a sudden my car turns off??! at 80ks n hour, tried to restart it in neutral while goin and it would not kick over as if eg: an immobilizer was stuck on. Pulled over to the side of the road and tried contstantly to start it, it would just not start, after about 30 mins lookin at the engine n tryin to start it, it finally went, by the sounds of it it sounded like there wasnt enough fuel getting to it so i revved it a bit to get the fuel goin. Today also this happend at the transport department, but this time i got it started a lot quicker. does anyone have any idea what is going on? my rough idea is something to do with the engine not getting enough fuel.
crank angle sensor.
edit:
this thread should help, if not there's stacks more, just search for crank angle
crank angle sensor
Sounds like thunder Goes like lightning!
oh ****, umm i think i mite of done something thats ****ed all the electricals up... well the sensors anyway, can taking the positive off your battery instead of the negitave first **** up all your sensors n ****? because atm my speed sensor isnt working, now the crank angle sensor etc..
ahhh sorry about all the language...
dunno about that power thing, but the CAS's do wear out after a while, the get a crack in em so they work when the car's cool, but when they heat up they expand, and the crack gets wider, and they stop working, car stalls.
once it's cooled down the CAS contracts and the crack kinda closes up a bit, and it'll run fine until the process repeats.
i think that thread says you can test if it's that by chucking some cool water on the CAS when the cars hot, if it's the culprit the car should start.
dunno if it throws a fault code, mines gone before but can't remember.
if it's just cracked i don't think the power thing would do that, but i'm no sparky.
oh ok thanks for that. btw, where is the crank angle sensor located?
ah dont worry found it, behind the harmonic balancer, thanks heaps for that ay, the cas was the prob, i poured some cold water on it, and my car started straight away.
cheers mate
Taking the terminals off in the wrong order will not do any damge.
The only reason you're supposed to take the neg off first is to avoid the possibility of arcing the positive terminal to the chassis and creating a short circuit, which would generall just stuff the battery, not any electric components.
I'd rather push my Holden than drive a Ford
what you mean by "kick over" Crank angle sensor will not stop the engine from cranking. "
thats a tuff one i wish u luk
did i get a faulty crank angle sensor? got it from autobarn and got mechanic to replace it. now it takes maybe a hour and a half of comnstant driving be4 it stops. used to be a hour. water fix's it. if i put waTER over it. has2 be aye?
yeah my vn is doin the same thing nd i got it checked out nd the guy said that my o2 sensior nd CAS is playin up so yeah if u replace this it might fix ya problem.
I hate it wen it doesnt start nd alot of prople r around u watchin![]()
