ok, so i'm looking to get some more powa out of the old girl (sick of getting done by smaller lighter newer cars) i'm sick of NA and i'm leaning towards supercharging just cos i don't want my extractors to go to waste from turboing
my question is what will i be looking at doing/buying to run a reasonable amount of boost reliably, without killing anything. i'm not on a shoestring budget, but not looking to spend huge amounts.
things i know:
the obvious: relocation of coil packs, intercooler, exhaust shielding.
any specifics of anything and rough prices would help make a decision if i atchly want to do this, or if a new long engine could be in order instead
you can pick up a s/c14 for arroung $400 you will need piping and turbo hose/clamps
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

how much boost you wanna run? my intercooled 10psi setup cost me about $1400 for everything excluding exhaust

i'm fairly new to the boost arena, i've heard intercooler gets more outta less boost, is 10psi safe for an old girl? what sort of power do you see from it?
what are the details of your system?
if ur handy with a welder, and not in a hurry turbo charge it, mines going to cost around $1800 all up intercooled using all brand names parts (eg no ebay monsta stuff)
u need to have a think though more power, better chance of gearbox going, hell iv killed two stock ones and one hotted up one with a na motor, also ull need at least a spool or lsd in the diff for traction, it all adds up then insuacne
If your after something crazy, check out the raptor section. maybe a low comp strocker running around 10psi

10psi is the usual going rate for the v6. Anything more and you will be pushing too hard on your engine.
sweet as, stocky i'm looking at your setup to pretty much replicate. i've already got pacies to twin cats then a y into a 2 1/2 redback.
the pacies and cats are from vp_lukes boosted VP, so i think they'll suit the application.
what's the go with the 2 bar map sensor?
I am led to believe that the 2 bar map sensor helps with tuning for optimum operation.
There was a nice 5 litre vn on gas research lpg sold for 2500 last night, something to think about before you spend 2 grand on some boost to go the same![]()

coolies, i was just at autobarn and checked the intercooler setups, any chance you have a part/model number, and will anything need to be added to the system for a manual?
you cant buy an intercooler setup, it has to be custom made im pretty sure.
seriously? they sell the intercoolers with piping and elbows. do they not have a set for set for vns/vps? i seen one for the vl
yeah because vl turbos are common and its easy to sell kits for them. just about any intercooler piping for a vn will need to be a custom job

I didn't realize yours was cooled stocky. Well there you go, all sized up for you.![]()
yeah they had a couple of coolers in 600x300x76, here's the one i'm looking at getting
stocky where'd you get your sc14? i was looking at crs but their kit comes 3psi, no intercooler, no map sensor for ~$1800
second hand crs kit cost me $700. found it on the SC forum trading post

Grab the SC of Ebay... ther pretty cheap, grab a smaller pulley, youll need to find everything else tho.... the exhaust manifold pre cooler and intake manifold also need to be custom fabricted under my understanding.
Youll need the obvious like bigger injectors, maybe upgrade the fuel system altogether.
New tune.. are you handy with wleders? can you make custom brackets?
CRS kit may be the go...
aZk.
IMO your paying for peace of mind when you buy the CRS kit. You know it's all going to mount on no troubles
It depends how much peace of mind is worth to you
yeah, it could be the safer option, as long as the forum doesn't make fun of my puny boost.
25-30% power increase sounds like a fair but from 3psi, anyone with the crs kit care to weigh in on whether that's accurate?
I have one of these on my VP, don't have dyno figures but i worud say that it's a bit less then what they say(power increase)... try ebay or the trading post,so far my setup has cost me $400 for SC, brackets free but 2-3 hours of labour, and a few little hoses connectors $50.
IMO i would also say that it's not worth paying $1800 for but thats just my opinion. i've done the pricing and if i spent anothern$1400 on my setup it will be intercooled with bigger injectors tuned and running 10psi.
busted ass vp
these crs chargers sound allright what do they make power wise on a stock bottem endcooled at 10pi
