    Default Relocating thermo fan

    yo guys,

because of my new turbo manifolds my old the thermo fan has to go

ive removed my aircon condensor, so ive got a bit of room infront of the radiator, im thinking maybe a VL front fan, it looks 12" and the stock vn one is 15"

i wanted the ford EF twin thermo fans (slim line) but my mate wasnt working at the wreckers so they were $90 insted of $30 :P

went back and they'res no EF's there... does anyone know another car that has a thermo fan that will work????????????????? if its on the engine bay side it has to be slim line!

Hey i used to own a single turbo ecotec V6 vs commodore i was able to run the standard fan & shroud just with a cut out in the shroud for clearance of the turbo, how have you got your turbo/s mounted, sounds like the manifolds from ebay/exhaust wizard maybe???

use an ebay slimline, i got one from ebay, 16" does the job, clears the turbo easily.

How much room do you have to play with Gordon? I have some BF thermos here (same as AU and BA basically) I can measure how deep they are if you need me too.

his setup should have about the same clearance as mine as the manifolds are the same.

That really is a ****house pipe layout! I know guys with blown and intercooled V8's with crank braces and thicker cored radiators with more room then that!

tasty turbo's make the best manifold setup but i think most of us don't have 1800 bucks to spend on just pipes

It probably is, because theres not much room to play with and really only 1 way to have it setup to make it all fit.

Anyways paradox, just get a slimline fan of some sort and should mount up alright, there is a bit of room there still.

all those pods are sucking in nice hot air from the radiator, undoing all the hard work of the intercooler, i'd move the battery to the boot and then mount the pod where the battery was and shield it properly with a nice CAI setup and drop your intake temps even more for more power

airstike its not all about bling, i think your forgetting the important things like putting the turbo's next to the engine isnt as easy as it sounds... my first setup was flawed because of the fact that they're was already a crossover so running a 3" pipe was near impossible and it made exhust leaks...

your correct my manifolds were made by exhust wizard but unlike all you noobs i had mine mandrel bent and ive already cut them up because i wasnt happy with some things... when im done with them they'll be the same location.... yes it dosnt look the best however it does work, im thinkin of changing it a bit, like not face the same direction, but i dont know.. i just want it going with no leaks, so im just going to weld on some stuff for a external gate,

sooo, im just gonna heatshield it all... but yes i need thermo fans....

stock thermo cant be used, its just stupid to even think of using it, the shroud is there for a reason,

i woulda had a thermo fan by now and my manifolds welded but ive been fiddling with a ZC fairlane lately, its old school... Respect!

well i found the stock thermo to move more air than a 14" slim line and as far as a shroud goes, if you can't hear it goin and you put your hand in there well look out for broken fingers

    that makes absolutely no sense......

dude the shroud isnt there to protect your fingers... its there to channel the air to suck through the radiator fins...
