Can anyone help me with my old VN gal, after fueling up and driving approx 30km she started missing and the engine check light appeared, since then she will idle with a few misses and as soon as I try to accelerate the engine just misfires and will not rev out, it just coughs, splutters, back fires and stalls...I have replaced spark plugs and leads to no avail...Please help, the old girl has never missed a beat until now???...

it could be the fuel there has been fuel with water contamination going around
What kinda fuel was it and from what servo? You could possibly have water in the tank but I doubt it. Could be a blocked fuel filter or stuffed fuel pump.
you need to find out why your engine check light came on, then you will probably find your problemgoodluck, it's sad when they are unwell

run the onboard diagnostics, you mite have damaged a sensor or something.
sounds like the fuel pumps slowly going, mine just went all of a sudden but did have what you described minus the engine light.
Thank you for your comment i will do that it may point me in the right dirrection.
Then it probably is the fuel as it just happens to be ethanol fuel you used and just happened to be straight after you got your fuel but run a diagnostic as everyone has said. Might just be spitting out an idle speed error but could be something completely different. Here is the link to the fault codes:

And here is the How To on checking your fault codes:

Ethanol mixes with water so if service stations that sell ethanol fuel get any water in the tanks which can be common, it mixes in with the fuel. Normal petrol sits on water and doesn't mix, never leaves the tank as it sits below the pickups in the tanks. With all the rain recently it is entirely possible that some water has gotten in through either the cap or when they were dipping the tanks or the most common way during rain which is through the ventilation pipe.
