i removed my rear muffler a while back. There seems to be a rattle coming from the exhaust and im not sure whats causing it. Could it be the rubbers at the rear of the car chafing together? i dunno any opinions?!
btw it sucks that all the threads were lost hey..
Firstly, look at the condition of the rubbers, are they stretched all to buggery, is the rubber bump stop still in place between the two hooks on the rear of the car, is the front rubber still there and is it not split.
The best thing to do is either drive it up onto ramps or jack the rear end up by the diff and support the diff with stands, and then get under the car and move the exhaust around a bit to see where it is touching. The most common spots are on the panhard rod and the hanger itself touching the hooks on the car. Also look at the pin on the front muffler and see if it is touching the chassis rail. Another spot is the front muffler touching the trailing arm or the tail shaft.
yeh its most probley ur rubbers m8
cheers guys ill check it out soon
has it still got the cat on it? when my cat fell to bits i had a nasty rattle in the exhaust. Was the rusty guts floating around. Pulled it off, tipped them out and put it back on. Mind you if you do this it's a major EPA offense as the cat is there to kill off nasties such as unburnt unleaded fuel.
