want to change cas but

i want to change my crank angle sensor on my vn v6 but i was told there is 2 differnt types one that splits and one thats whole, i was told that there not interchangeable and that i need the one that splits and i wont be able to do it myself because you need a special tool and that you cant buy that tool anymore does anyone know if this is true? i dont and to pull it apart and find this is the case.

icouldnt help myself pulled apart, and yes there are 2 sorts and their not exchangeable i didnt use a tool to put knew one on just adjusted gaps by eye and now my cars running heaps better.
