    Default Vn Lsd

    Does anyone know off-hand where I can go in Brisbane to get a LSD put in my VN?

    Any diff joint man, but try a wreckers or looking around for a full LSD diff. I got mine for $100 then a few hundred for a rebuild and then some 3.9's and I havent looked back since

    If i get lower diff gears s there a way to adjust the speedo so that its not reading 130Km/hr when im really only doing 100Km/hr? If i have to pay to get it adjusted i don't really care.

    Thanks, I prolly look like a total idiot but im new to cars and modding. I know how to do stuff tho helped my dad build a tough VJ Valiant Ute.

    hehe yeah or you can look for a LSD center and bolt it straight in (swap the gears over) just make sure you get the bearing cups with the diff, the easiest way to identify a lsd is by the 2nd row of bolts on the bottom

    only problem with changing centers is you need to check the backlash on the gears, use the same 3.08 gear off the open diff and smire the gear with a white or yellow grease, spin it round a few times and check where its contacting, what ever you do dont get the shims mixed up, anyway i got my center for $300, put it in, checked backlash and it was all good bolted it up and its been doing twins ever since, u can try ebay, thats probbly your bet bet

    In my personal opinion buying just a centre can be a waste. Most people sell the entire diff anyway as what good is the diff without the centre

    Plus I paid $100 for a good condition LSD out of a VN 5L and even the brakes were in great condition, when in comparison you would still pay atleast that (or 3x that as above) just for the centre, plus you then have to swap it all over.

    I got my LSD for free. Getting it fitted next week, what differences have you guys noticed other than spinning doubles?

    A freebie - lucky you. They are more predictable than the single peggers.

    Often the LSD cones are stuffed and need rebuilding so a freebie may not be all that good - unless you know it's been rebuild at some point.

    You will know if the cones are stuff tho - the car will shake its ass trying to work out which wheel will spin and which one the clutches will slip.
