vp v6 engine light?

my engine light comes on every now and again. its strange cause it comes and goes when it wants, just wondering what it could be and why its doing it? anyone else had this problem

Have you done an error code check? If the light comes on, it logs a code, it's a good starting point to find the problem.

you mean the orange one with the ! in the middle?
best to pull over and see whats wrong with your engine bay

i had that orange one, came on and pulled over
one of the spark plug leads had come off :/

I had the same problem a few weeks ago . Turned out to be the oxygen sensor .
All it took to fix was a tank of premium to clean it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its probably your o2 sensor, my calais does the same, possibly your idle is mildly eratic to? if your gettin dodge performance or fuel economy then get it looked at otherwise id just leave it be .

i was looking in my vr gregorys car manual and it said when ur ecu doesnt get a signal it ignores it and automaticaly turns ur eninge light on so yer but thats for my car not sure about urs tho

kinda pissed cause it got checked a week ago and needed a map sensor and also a fuel pressure regulator! now more problems

do you have a tacho? check the revs when it's happening. if i'm driving and chuck cruise on but revs are sub 2k it'll come on after a bit. extractors can cause it i hear. something about exhaust gasses being colder than expected.

no tacho, so cant really test that theory and i dont have extractors either, so ill just get soe 02 sensors and see if that helps

The o2 connector can also be a bit dodgy - corrotion - killing the signal = engine light

code check was done monday and nothing came up, even though the light had been going on an off for the past few days

If the light comes on, it logs a code. Did you wait until the 12 count went through 3 times then counted the flashes after that?

Had the same prob mate exact same as you whent off came on a few time's, bit more fuel consumption and it all happened not long after i got my new extractor's ended up being th O2 sensor it effects fuel mixture so could cause the excess fuel consumption.

o2 sensor is buggered in mums VP.. engine light only comes on for a few seconds when you start driving when engines cold.

mine did the same, turned out to be map sensor now runs sweet just too expensive.

mine has been doing that for like over a year now.........i have extractors and a re mapped chip among other things and i just replaced the coolant sensor and i am about to replace the o2 sensor and knock sensor along with my DFI module so ill soon see how it all goes
