Default Changing transmission in a vn series 2 auto

    hey guys,
to change the transmission in a vn is it easier to pull the whole engine out with the tranny or can it be dropped out from underneith????
i've had to change/ remove my engine a few times and for $44 hiring an engine crane aint bad, plus coolant and auto fluid about $100, but i wont to know if anyone has takin out the auto with the motor still in and can give me a decent guide.
    cheers guys
reason for the this is i have a reco box sitting here and when i took my car to calder last friday, it wouldn't change out of 2 gear, just kept hitting the limiter, ease off the back on and strait back to the limiter, last 100m of track bouncing the limiter, tried adjusting KD cable but no good, 2 gears, 16.1 at 132kph

Ive pulled out and put in a gearbox in my old VN S2, done it in the backyard up on 4 car ramps. Engine removal was not necessary.

just make sure that you slot the torque converter right in and turn it too line up with the pump in the trans I dont know how many cars ive had to fix from people not putting the t/c right in and then tightning the bellhousing bolts back up putting pressure on the pump and doing lots of damage just a heads up

hehe na just useless people ive even done it once myself to my Hq 202 best way too kill a tranny in a few moments thought it was right in but no it wasnt was a big waste of time was not happy tranny was fine when we took it out my mates car didnt go at all well after thats for sure

back on topic you can put them in quite easy from underneith if you get the car up high enough and have someone to put in the top bolts while you hold it there
